new member, wanta be 919 owner

presently looking at purchasing a 919 the Southern honda shop has quite a few 07s left. Trying to convince the wife why I need a bike. Dealer said just let her find it in the garage one day. I've been riding a 150 scooter 30 miles a day to work and it's just not getting it any more. After 25 years of marriage I can handle all silent treatment she can dish out

Ah, just buy it and she'll get over it eventually. Just teach her to ride and get her a bike, worked for me

I don't know, I've been through the silent treatment more than I care to admit too and now I find it easier to just get her blessings or get her involved like sbeau said. It works out better in the long run (for me at least) in the bed room.

Look for a nice used one, then you can claim that you are saving money and you will be able to get one with some mods on it already.

That's some sound advice right there.

Tell her you need it for safety in traffic, because the scooter doesn't have the power, the brakes are weak and a 919 has a bigger profile so you will be more visible. Technically it's not a lie, it's exapanding on variations of truth.

There's your plan and then there's God's plan.........
Your's doesn't matter.

I went from a 50cc scooter to a 919 as my first street bike (actually the scooter was 70cc with a big-bore kit, pipe, clutch, etc.)... the 2.5 mile commute to work got a lot more fun!

My fiance wanted an engagement ring, so I asked her "Are you going to get me an engagement dirt bike?" She doesn't think it's fair that women get rings worth thousands of dollars and guys get nothing, so she volunteered to split the cost of my new 919! One of her co-workers jokingly asked if she would talk to his wife since she made him sell all of his bikes when they got married....

You mean your wife knows how to shut up? I informed my wife when we got married, there is no changing me. If you love me, take me as I am. If not, oh well. Long story short, I have many motorcycles and look to purchase more in the near future. Good luck and welcome.

riding is an addiction, no matter what you ride.

Wife update she finally gave the ok but said to sell the scooter first. Now to let the overseas mutual fund stablize. Might as well put it to use before it's gone.
