New member, New 919

Hello everyone! Name is Ryan. Just picked up my 07 about a week ago...love it. I've been riding for about 10 years, owned almost every Japanese sport bike on the market, and the fun factor on the the 919 is far superior to any bike I have ridden to date.

Has anyone experienced the "ticking" on the 919? From about 2000rpm to 5500rpm, when there is a load on the engine, it almost sounds like valves are ticking. I have heard that it could be the fuel injectors??? About 2 years ago I rode another 919 and it did the same thing.

Welcome redrider22! COngrats on the new machine. The ticking is pretty common. Like you had stated it is gerally the injectors or the timing chain. Do not get too concerned. Enjoy the new 9er.

Welcome Ryan! The ticking sound on my '07 seemed to go away at about 1500 mi. But, now that I think about it that's about when I did my bafflectomy. Maybe I just can't hear it anymore?

Thanks everyone! The site is great and full of useful info.

Cracklins and boudin comin right up!

The ticking went away with a simple fill up of Premium. The 919 owners manual only suggests 86 octane or higher, so I was running 87 or 89 and she did not like it. Her thirst for 93 has been quenched.

Welcome Ryan Redrider from Red Stick! I'm from Eunice but live in Houston now. I'll be back there around Christmas. My Dad and I were suppose to make a tour down through Lafayette, to Morgan City, then up through Baton Rouge and over to New Orleans and back through St Francisville this past fall but had to cancel because of his high BP. I think we're going to try it again this coming spring though.

Well welcome to the naked side! Just sit back and enjoy the 9r it seems to have no problems.

Oh yeah I used go up to Forest Hill to race enduro races in high school and college. I actually was just back up there about a year ago running the national forest. I actually have kin folks in Oakdale.

Yeah that's where I want to go. I just to have a girlfriend who moved to St Francisville and would go visit there.

I've driven this whole area quite a bit but it was many years ago and I want to go back and ride it.

that national forest is mom and dad's back yard!!
the sand dunes with the small lake was my fathers land and they live on top of that giant bank .. the race track also borders daddy's land.. sweet... ahhh memories.. i wandered those forests as a kid/teenager and used to know every inch of them but i havent been out there in years.

I did a 2 year stint at Northwestern in Natchitoches, so I am familiar with the central Louisiana roads...some good riding to be had in those parts. Let me know if any of you guys pass through the area.
