New member in Texas

Hello Everyone, My name is Frank. I live in central Texas. I picked up a 2007 919 about a week ago and I love it. I've been riding motorcycles since age 15 and am in my 40's now. I had been without a street bike for about ten years and had the itch to ride, so I got the 919. I was unaware of the 919 until I stumbled upon this forum. I'm glad I did!. Full sport bikes are great, but not really for me. Cruisers are okay too, but I need more speed. The 919 is great
because it's relatively cheap to obtain a good one and it is easy to modify it, but then you all know that already. I got mine from the original owner and it is all stock with about 2700 miles on it. Now that I've seen all the incredible bikes on this forum, I see mine like a clean slate - just waiting to be modified.

Some planned mods: CBR900RR header conversion with single low-mount exhaust. I actually really like the sound of the stock dual exhausts (without bafflectomy), but my clothes smell like gas/exhaust fumes after a ride. Fender elminator (will try home-made version), LED blinkers, grips, mirrors, maybe powder coat some parts black.... and on and on...

This forum is a great resource. Although this is my first post, I've read many, many threads and watched lots of videos. You all have done some incredible stuff with your bikes! Googleit - your videos are top notch and will save me lots of time in my mods -- Thanks!

I tried posting an avatar photo, but couldn't get it to work. I'll keep trying and will also post some pics of my bike when I can figure it out.

Time to go get a quick ride in before it starts raining here! Take care.

Welcome. WT is a pretty great community of riders. I can't tell you the number of folks on here who've helped me in one way or another. So much information, it fills my bookmarks!

Here are just a few photos of the new bike.

Just picked up the Rizoma mirrors yesterday. They are crazy expensive, but look really cool and are a vast improvement over stock. However, visibility with them is pretty limited. I guess that's the trade off. Looks really cool, but not as functional as a larger mirror would be. I guess I will get used to them.

Thanks to everyone for the welcome!

Welcome! g00gl3it's 919 is definitely a bike to take note of! I had to copy the license plate relocation (haven't been pulled over for it yet! )

Those are some good looking mirrors! I opted to cheap out and get some mirrors with integrated turn signals. Good visibility, not too tall or 'out there,' and forty bucks shipped to my door lol

You didn't cheap out, you probably did the smart thing. I just got seduced by the Rizomas -- I never would have thought I would spend that much just on mirrors!
