New Guy From Southern Ca

Hi everyone, I picked up an '02 919 a few weeks ago and have been lurking around here ever since. Seems about time to say hi.

A big thanks to everyone for posting their tips, tricks, and how-tos! I'll do my best to contribute.

I bought mine basically stock and have since added a set of Yoshimura TRS slip ons, built a fender eliminator (I'll take a pic in the light tomorrow), and have, but not installed yet, lower bars and mirrors.

Here's as it is now on a recent trip up to Mt. Wilson:

Welcome. I can't believe someone didn't pick up the handle of 'Niner' before right now. In any case, welcome to the place.

Thanks for the welcome!

I was surprised too that nobody got that name before me too, it was the first one I tried.

I got lucky with the pipes. About a week after I bought the bike they showed up on Craigslist for a price I couldn't pass up. When I first installed them I took a quick trip around town, came back home, and ordered the low volume inserts. They had a nice sound open but just too loud for me.

Horray! Finally somebody with the guts to admit they do not like loud pipes! I agree with you, but if you mention this sometimes you get flamed.

I like a good sound. But loud? No thanks.

Stay safe out there.

BTW... NEVER mention this on a HD or cruiser board. The hate that will be sent you way will curl your hair.

I didn't have too much of a problem with the stock pipes on their own but there are certainly fewer people pulling out of driveways in front of me and drifting into my lane on the freeway now. That's really the reason I put them on, not just to be loud for the sake of being loud. I guess they save me in a different way. That and the massive HP gains of course .

If I ever end up on a cruiser board I guess I could just take out the inserts, shoot a quick video, and put them right the f*** back in.
