New guy from Florida

Hi guys, just bought a '02 919 with 1,500 miles on it over the weekend. So far, I've change the bars to Renthal High Road Bars, used their bar ends and changed the mirrors to something a little more interesting to me.

Drove from Florida to Maryland to buy the bike (met up at Budds Creek MX) but it was well worth it. Instantly fell in love.

Welcome and congrats on the 9'er. Nice mods so far. I only live about 5 miles from Budds Creek Motocross Park.

Beautiful State. Loved the weather up there and Virginia where we went to visit a friend afterwards. Got home and the weather is miserably hot.

Next mod will be aluminum footpegs (ordered) and I saw a thread here where someone modified the stock rearsets to eliminate the passenger peg so I'll be doing that. Well, that and getting the horn to work (changed the bars and it quit).

Thank you.

Hello and Welcome- Looks like you got a good deal!

The handebars are the first thing that has to go with a stock 919!

Oh yeah- Amtrak has the "autotrain" that goes between DC and Orlando should you ever make that trip again, you can throw your bike on the train for $110 each way.

Cheers.

That's a great deal. I come from a motocross background and have gone to Budds Creek 3 or 4 times. Sure would be a hoot to ride the bike up there and back home. I'd have to find a non-highway route though. Not much on riding the 919's on them.

Thank you.

Wow! What a sweet grab! I've always been a big fan of the matte black. I kind of wish my Street Triple was matte black haha.

Thank you. I love the matte black too. I had a '07 before but I think this one looks meaner. Once I sat on a '11 CB1000R, which I can't afford (or not willing to pay that much), I figured this is the next best thing.

Thanks man. How far are you from Flourence, NJ? A buddy and I spent a week up there last year with another friend. Went to the High Point and Budds Creek MX races and the tourist stuff. Good times.

Looks like I'm about 2 hrs. north of there, only about 30 min. or so from High Point.

Wow, that's nice. I would go every year if I was that close. There's talk of a national in the south again, maybe next year. Last one was Gainesville/Gatorback in '97.

So you like beeping the starter to warn people, eh?

Been there, done that, still do it.

Welcome to the fracas and enjoy your new ride.

Ok, now I don't feel so bad. If this was my first 919 I'm blame it on that but.....

Thanks Dave.
