New Guy

Time for introductions.....
My name is John:
- I live in Valrico Florida (near Tampa)
- I'm 53 years old (yea I know, I'm getting old but don't feel it)
- I rode dirt bikes from the age of 12 until 19
- I rode steet bikes starting at 16
- I've owned three street bikes (Yamaha, Norton and Kawasaki)
- I've been out of riding for close to 20 years, when I say out of riding I haven't owned a bike in close to 20 years - I've ridden periodically (friend's bikes) over that time
- I'm looking at sport-touring bikes - Honda ST, FJR, Kawasaki, and really interested in the Triumph Sprint ST.
- Since I'm an 'old man', I believe in AGATT - well I don't always wear riding pants, but then I wear jeans. That includes always wearing either a full face helmet or my new flip-up. It gets hot and humid here in Florida, and while I might be more comfortable not wearing a helmet, they have saved my melon more than once, so I elect to wear one.

Welcome to WristTwisters. I've ridden with a couple FJR 1300s. One was with an older guy. He kept right up with us. I'd love to have one if my wife was more interested in riding.

Welcome will fit right in here. My next bike will be of the sport touring or touring type. Good luck with your choice.

Welcome John. I have an FJR, it's a great machine. Your story sounds very similar to mine, grew up on dirt bikes, got my first street bike at 16, rode until I was about 30 and then quit for 15 years until I got back into riding because my wife wanted to learn. Now we have a whole garage full of bikes, so be careful, once you start again you may not be able to stop!
