New 919 rider in Washington State

Hello,

I've been lurking on the forum here for a few weeks learning about my 919 that I just purchased and figured I'd say hello.

My riding history started back in Oct 2004 when I purchased my first bike...a shiny new 2005 CBR1000RR. Took me all of two months to crack the frame. Funny how it survived going off a ravine on the Blue Ridge Parkway but didn't fare as well when I high sided crossing traffic.

Next two bikes were an '05 R1 and '07 R1, respectively.

Haven't owned anything the past three years and finally am able to hop on a bike again. I figured this time I'd get something a bit more "under the radar" and functional.

Found my 919 on Craigslist for $1,000. Had 42k miles on the clock and needed a chain. The motor looked surprisingly clean after I got her home and checked the fluids and cracked open the valve cover etc.

I've already tore it apart and sent a bunch of pieces to get powder coated. Have a buddy who is going to help with painting the other pieces. It's been fun so far. I'll probably do a build thread as I get it together.

Anyway, I'm rambling....so....

Hello and

You're getting the frame powder coated? What are your color choices?

King county...know it well. I'm from Puyallup myself. Ran off to the navy and spent six years on the East coast. I miss the west side of the state.

Powder coat color choice....pretty limitless. I'm keeping this simple though since it's my first time starting from the ground up. I went with a satin black and I'm probably going to go with a dark metal flake red for the body. I'll link my build thread to this once I get started. One more week until I get my parts back....sigh....
