New 919 rider from MN!

Started riding two months ago, first bike was a 2009 Harley Iron 883.

I have since sold the bike and bought a brand new 2007 919.
I am in love with my new bike. Better in every way possible! And even the insurance is 30% cheaper than my sportster (wtf?)

Welcome

Now that is a very interesting begining to riding. Why did you ditch the HD so quick?

Welcome Magnus. Congrats of your new 9'er. I started out looking at cruisers but decided before I bought one that it wasn't what I really wanted. Also curious to hear what made you dump the HD.

1. Horrible shocks, kept bottoming out my rear shocks and forks on small bumps. (im only 190lbs)
2. Mediocre power. Doesnt have enough power to escape sticky situations (aka people coming into your lane on the highway like you arent even there)
3. Small 3.3 gallon gas tank
4. No lean angle, scraping all the time.
5. Headlight isnt bright enough
6. wanted to ride 2-up, getting the bike rady for that would cost alot of money.
7. Annoying oil changes.

The 919 did everything i want and more.

I originally was looking at the kawasaki versys. I test drove that and a bunch of other bikes, when i saw the 919 on the floor.

I had never heard of the 919 because i was always looking for 2009 bikes.

Guy said he had a a few still in crate in back. So i test drove the demo, and fell in love. Liked it much better than the kawsakis, clutch was worlds better.

The price was right, so i swooped it up!

Welcome! your story sounds a lot like mine. I too looked at cruisers (non Harley), and the versys and the FZ6. I saw the 919 with the little price tag and thought it was the best of all worlds...love it. I bought a matching red Givi hard case on Ebay from a 919 owner from MN. It wasn't you was it?

HEY another MN 919 owner!! Glad to see you join the club! I an curious as to how many of us are in Minnesota. I have been on mine for a year now and have not seen another 919 on the road yet. I think it would be great to have a get together/ride for all of us around the twin cities area. If there is anyone who would be game let me know. I'm in Elk River.

Yo! Congrats on the 9er! The first bike I owned was a 77 Sportster, then a Shadow, now the 9er. Love that bike! Good Luck with it, ride safe.

I owned mine for two riding seasons, saw two others the entire time. I sold mine earlier this year though.
