New 919

Hi Everyone,

Purchased a used '06 919 Red with 500 miles on it for 6 grand. Bike is perfect! Took it on a 200+ miler today on curvy two lane highways. Beautiful. Had no problem keeping up with the replicas. I've put over 300 miles on it the past few days. I'll use this bike everyday for commuting, weekend sorties and multi-state travels. Have had the replicas but was looking for a multi dimensional bike. This is it! Put 9000 miles on an FZ6 - good bike - but doesn't have the torque or comfortability this bike has. Not to mention that this bike turns heads. Look forward to the posts in this forum (and advice) and spending time (and money - when I can!) on mods (first thing ultra low renthals)!

You would be amazed that they're actually some great roads in NE Kansas! I live in the country just outside metro KC near Lawrence.

Yes there are. I bought my 06 in Blue Spirings MO(KC suburb) in Oct 2006. I had a 300 mile trip to drive it back home and break it in. I intentionally chose a route through that part of the state to get me back into Nebraska. That was some very enjoyable breaking in I must say. The wife couldn't keep up in the car on a couple stretches.

I just mine 5 days ago. It is a 2002 asphalt with only 4700 miles on it. I got it for $4k. I love it.

i got the same 2002 919 w/ 10k miles for $1800.
it's got art carbon fiber exhaust, carbon fiber blinkers front and back w/ fender eliminator, bar end mirrors. there are some other minor add-ons. it came w/ few small dings on the tank. i was wondering if custom painting the whole bike for $450 was a good price. they'll take out the dings, custom paint the logos in color that i want and fix minor scratches. does anyone know if $450 custom paint will add to the value of the bike? let me know.
thanks.

It's a good price but probably will not add value to the bike. I paid $500 for a complete custom paint job but I do not feel it is more valuable now (I only did it because I crashed and needed a dent fixed)
