Long Time Hawker adds 919 to fleet

I've had many bikes. None that I like as much as the various RC31's in my past and current stable. Except the 919. Picked it up on a whim a few weeks ago - '02/asphalt/18K miles/Erion cans/FenderElim/IntegratedTail/Givi top case/Sato sliders.

In some ways she's a big CB-1 (another bike in my stable). In others, reminds me of the Hawk, or a more utilitarian Brutale. Was planning FZ1 but I always have a hard time leaving the Hawk herd. She's a keeper. Add a fly screen and ride - a lot. Haven't touched any of the other bikes since I picked her up - she's been first choice every day. Of course, my RC31 is apart so that explains some of it...

I dig 'er. Will post pics at some point. Will try not to modify this one too much - but it is tempting. Might have to mill a few bits. Probably swap the mirrors. Obviously ditch the CA emissions stuff (half done already).

Thanks guys. I'll dig some pics up today. Hawk buddy has offered up his '04 forks with emulators and RT springs. Brake lines and levers on the way. Mirrors probably too - maybe bars. Don't like any of the rearsets I've seen so might need to machine some up. So maybe a mod or two

(NC24 recently flew the coupe, some of the other rides in the background)

Hawk awaiting my attention, getting a lot of bits reworked...

Welcome! Nice fleet! I think I need to get me one of those fleet things.

My goal is simple. It is a complete understanding of the universe, why it is as it is and why it exists at all.

Gotta say I'm really digging the 919...might even be coerced into letting the CB-1 go!

Yes! Same boat here. Rode a hawk for years and recently switched to the 919. Both great bikes, both bikes to keep for years. I think I'm going to turn the hawk into a track toy now...

I'll never sell my hawk, unless it is life or death. Still dig the 919 though...

So a few bikes flew the coop last year...and a '00 VFR800 just decided to be stable mates with the Hawk and 919...2013 going to be a good year for riding

No mods to the 919 besides PAIR blockoffs, new tires next week with fluids, and braided brake lines inbound.

So Bill, I think I missed it on the flip side but what was the deal with this bike? An original 900rr plant in the 600 frame setup?

Nope...CB250F Hornet - inline 4, 16K redline, Sansei racing exhaust, bunch of Rizoma accessories, braided lines (not installed yet) and all of the original parts...just a really cool sounding and fun to ride small bike!

Lives in the office now - just turned 8K km.

Damn that's a 250 I'd own/ride! Bet that thing is even more fun than the ninja 250. Didn't come to the states did it?

Sadly they never did (with exception to grey market access). I saw the discussion on the Hawk forums Bill but I was either in a sugar induced coma or a coffee deprived state of slumber.

That Hornet 250 is sick! I'd love to have one of those. Heck the CBR250R is fun, can't imagine an inline 4 250 naked.

I had a CBR250R last summer - absolutely no comparison. The Hornet kicks so much more ass (Honda blew it on the new CBR250R if you ask me - should have been a VTR250R!).

Yes, grey market, titled and registered in CA. She's a keeper.

Welcome to the 919 family. I have only had mine for a few weeks now (live in MN, so I have only had it out twice...but realize that there is still feet of snow laying around). I too started out with a Nighthawk ('84 650). So far, I am thrilled with the 919. Many of the Nighthawk Forum guys seemed to not care for the 919....not sure what's not to like.

Nighthawks are alright too...but I'm a Hawker - as in RC31 NT 650 Hawk GT (650 V twin).

Welcome!
