Just Started Riding

Hey everyone! My name is Dan and I just bought my first motorcycle a few months ago. I got a used 2002 Honda CBR 600 F4I. So far it has been great! As of right now I just have my learners so it is hard for me to put on too many miles. I can't wait to get my license in May and be free to ride. If anyone has any advice or anything for me I'm here to learn and get better!

Welcome, you picked a great bike (its a honda!) As a beginner, Take it easy, dont ride over your head when riding with others, and get any training you can, like the MSF course.

Welcome. You should look into a MSF course or similarly related classes. If you pass the beginners course they will send you paperwork in the mail that allows you to avoid having to take the test at the DMV.

I took a MSF course this summer. It did help me. They gave me the paperwork but I still have to wait until I am 19 to be able to get my license. Bummer I know!

I live in Warrenton. Fauquier County.

Dan watch out for Barton... He has a sick sense of humor and his only goal in life is to make his bike faster.

Welcome to the frayed end of sanity that is wristtwisters. Enjoy your stay, watch your step and don't feed the natives. You picked a great bike to hone your skills on and you are in a great area surrounded by fellow WT'ers. Ride safe and keep the rubber side down.

so...they put a limit on you with your permit there? My only limit was no passenger.

The KY DVM riders test was a little less than hard. Okay...let me rephrase that. A slow kid on a tri-cycle could have passed this test.

I show up in the parking lot at our ice skating rink (this is where the test is performed). The guy says "I forgot to bring my cones but will let you take the test anyway." He looks the bike over, then says, "just ride down the line between parking spaces, stop when you get to the end, then turn around and ride back." That was it. Took longer to get there than to take the test. He did say he thought the test was kinda dumb anyway since "you probably did more weaving, stopping, and gear shifting on the way here than the normal test anyway. If you can make it here, you WILL pass the test." I rode to the license office with a huge smile on my face.

Welcome to a great community!!!
