Hot as hades in Alabama!

So pleased to find this site. I'm riding the streets again in my fifties. My last street adventures were when I was a teenager with a Suzuki 90. I managed to fall off it and slide sixty feet on my chest, and get hit by a car. Both wrecks in less than six weeks. I played on dirt bikes off and on since then. The first of last year I bought a KLR 650 to commute and trail ride. I learned what several people told me about the KLR. It wasn't really good for either. It wasn't comfortable on the interstate, and I dropped it in the carport and couldn't pick it up. (A Candy...I know) I certainly wasn't going far off the road. Traded it for the 919. I rode it for several weeks before I hammered it. Then I understood why the seat has a rise in the back...its all that kept it from running out from under me. I LOVE IT!!! I put a shield on it for the winter, and had to take it off several weeks ago because of the 100 degree days the past couple of weeks. Now the June bugs are about to make me put it back on. I plan to ride it until I'm dead or crippled.

Since I derailed the troubleshooting thread, I'm quoting from there for continuity.

I'll have to keep my eyes open. Since I bought mine, I've not yet seen another 9er around here.

Speaking of the heat, I'm just glad we've gotten out of the 100+ days for a while.

Welcome from a fellow Alabamian down in the Wiregrass!

I know there's a few of us around here, but most AL WT's are North of Montgomery. Topher is in Enterprise and he'll be back from deployment in December. Maybe we should all plan s SE Swarm later in the year with our fellow WT's from GA and FL!

Enjoy the ride!

Welcome from Birmingham!

We should definately have an Alabama 'swarm' sometime soon!

Not a whole lot of 919 riders around here. I mostly see FZ's (as far as naked bikes)

+1 - take a crushed pop can with your or something, put it under the kickstand, that should help.

Yup, that's the plan now! I just didn't expect that to happen.
