Honda Guy

Hello all, I just stumbled onto this forum and find it one of the best I've been sneaking around on. I just bought the last 2007 919 at my local stealer. I originally rode an 03 Honda 750 shadow Spirit. After a few months I was bored and wanted a bigger scoot so I sold the 750 to my brother-in-law and bought a 2003 Honda VTX 1800c. Now after a 2,000 mile cruise thru Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennesse, North Carolina, and then back home to New Orleans, I'm thinking a lighter bike would be fun but not sure if a fully faired liter sport bike would suit my style of riding. After deciding on the 919, I bought a left over red one. Not much color choice. Boy do I love this bike!!! So much so, I'm thinking of selling my cruiser and going with a 2008 CBR1000rr. I figure I'll do minimal mods on the 919 and keep it as my everyday ride and then see if I can scare the stuff out of myself on the CBR. I'm looking forward to chatting with you guys, finding some good aftermarket pieces and parts dealers, some good mods and a few like minded crazies like me. Be back later. Bean

Hey Matt Foley, What river do you live by and what color is your van? I might have seen you in the hood. Since we took on a little water after Kartina, that Bitch, I'm by the mighty Mississippi and I have a white safari van. The wheels are off but that's cause someboby stole my van and that's where the police found it, minus the wheels. I guess they needed them more than me. Anyways, my plan is to retrofit some floats to my van where the wheels used to be, then if another storm comes, I'll just drift where ever. I have more immediate worrys, like where to keep my bikes. I also used to be a motivational speaker, but after coming to grips with all my demons (drugs, alcohol, tobacco, girls, and sex), I decided to give up cigs and work. It kept getting in the way of my demons. Bikes keep me sane and the rest just keep me happy. I learned after Katrina you have to readjust your priorities. Sex, drugs, rock and roll and bikes. Thats about all I have time to say. My beer is getting warm, the doob keeps going out and my old lady is about ready to pass out. Damn it's a tight fit in this old van. Anybody got an old school bus they ain't using? Bean

Actually I lied, I don't have a van, but I do have this (for now). 1966 holiday traveler. "She's a real beaut Clark"
It's a few miles from the Littlefork River in northern MN, close enough.

I've got to admit I embellished a bit about living in a van down by the river. My van was stolen after Katrina and the cops did find it without wheels on the Mississippi River batture. That's the low land between the river and the levee, where it floods when the water level rises. There are still a lot of FEMA trailers around here but nobody can buy them, just live in their magnificent splendor. The van was totalled by my insurance company and I do live in a regular house. All the rest of the stuff I said is pretty much true! :001_smile:I am looking for something to put on the five acres of high ground I have about 65 miles north of my house. I need a place to evac to if necessary again. It's still pretty messed up in the city, crimes bad, streets are in terrible condition, lots of abandoned houses, economy is slow, but damn, we know how to party and the food ain't bad either. Not to mention some of the finest women on the planet!!! Well, WTF, it's late and I got to crash. Another day in paradise awaits... The Bean
