"Hi, I'm new"

My name is Hunter and I live in Atlanta.

I am in the process of buying my first modern motorcycle. I cut my teeth on vintage Vespas and still own two and love them. They're a lot of fun to work on and yield great results from a little bit of tuning.

I bought my first full size bike a couple of years ago. It is a 1975 CB550. Found it totally stock (except for the pipe) and in great shape with low miles. It has been a lot of fun and I get a lot of compliments on it.

I'm selling it and one of the Vespas to fund my new bike, which I just put a deposit down on. In a few weeks I'll be riding it. It's an 04 919 in the matte green. I rode over to a local bike shop on Saturday and they had just taken it on trade. I couldn't resist it. Anything I should know about it? Or 919s in general?

I like it because it looks like a direct decendant from my 550, color and all.

Obviously not the actual bike, and I'm sure you're all familiar with this one, but you get the point.

Hunter: Your CB550 four is a gem, it will continue appreciate in value. IMO you should at all costs keep it.
The same might be said for the 919 25 to 30 years from now. Why wait and take that chance.

I have been hearing the same thing from everyone I know all week. But the 75 is already sold. I sold it yesterday. I will miss it, but at least it's going to a friend and not a stranger in another state so I'll get to see it now and then.

I'd love to keep it just to have parked next to the new one in the garage. My wife has made it very clear that an ever expanding collection is not in the cards for me, though.

Welcome Hunter! That CB550 was sweet, cool that it went to a friend. I just picked up a '73 CB350 Four, looking forward to making it look that nice.

You'll enjoy the 919, great bike!

Nice 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' reference. NEMO green sure. I saw one in person once. Kinda reminded me of the Simpson's nuclear reactor goo. I'm not a fan, but it is definitely unique.

Welcome. Have fun with the 9er. Sorry you had to sell that 550. She is a beaut. There is a guy her at work that drives a black one. Not sure on the year though.

Tell the wife a motorcycle collection is a lot better than a drinking problem. At least you get to take her for a ride. That might get her to change her mind.

Did your friend come and pick this bike up today with a white Durango and a trailer? If so, I was sitting next to him at a traffic light near my house. Do you live in East Cobb?

I usually don't like to post just to post, but the top banner is asking me to. Hi again everyone. I picked up the new bike on Saturday and have only ridden it for about twenty minutes so far. Very impressed with it so far. Very different from the thirty year old bikes I've been riding.

Hey MisterMike. I was just walking through the BOTM thread and your 76 is beautiful!! I originally bought my old 75 with the intent to make a cafe bike, but it was too close to original and I decided to keep it that way. Of all the effort that went into yours, I think I am most envious of the lack of chrome tank trim/rust incubators.
