Hello from Downunder

Just thought I'd start here by sending a "G'day" to all from Melbourne, Australia. I came across this forum a couple of months ago and just had a few visits to this site now and again since getting my Hornet 900 (Honda 919 to our American cousins). This site's a wealth of information and I hope I don't become too much of a pain when I bust out the questions from time to time.
Unfortunately I had an off last month (no real damage to myself but my baby has been at the local bike shop the last 3 weeks under repair). Hopeful of having her back by the weekend (Phillip Island GP) because I can see my 250 struggle like mad with my missus on the back for the ride there.

Morning all, (or afternoon/evening/night I guess) and thanks for the welcome.

Ken, the helpful topics for 919 by MrMike, I've come by before and is probably the main reason I jumped aboard the forum.

Bigdaa, my 250's a "Spada", a 20 year old naked V-twin. The one on the right, next to the 900.

MisterMike and ideajones, will enjoy the GP, and the missus will too. She has her m/bike license too but rides around on her scooter. She's keen on moving onto a bike so that's helps in holding onto the 250 for her.

garyb900, a Fosters, no worries mate.
WIM-RC51, the less said about XXXX, the better.

And again, thanks to everyone else for the welcome.

Phew, I feel like Jim-Bob from "The Waltons", "Good night y'all"

Welcome! There's a fascinating write-up in the newest Motorcyclist here in the states about a Yanks journey down under. Written kind of stream of conciousness, but I was thinking maybe that helped catch part of the vibe down there?

Can't find a link to the text to share - but had some interesting tidbits about the nitty gritty of driving in the desert.

agitator, I am a great fan of the toecutter, but what has got me a little confused here is that according to my understanding, Fosters is considered 'horse piss' to some down under. Is there any truth to this my other-side-of-the-Earth brother?

I haven't imbibed in near 20 years, however I do not rembmer it tasting like bud, but I don't think that's what you meant. You mean it's commoness is like our former Bud?

Hello and welcome. Hope you're back on your bike soon.

Again thanks for the welcome guys, I guess being brought up in Victoria we become parochial over our local beers (as they do in the other states) and XXXX is a Queensland beer. Fosters isn't my favourite brew. Out of the local beers, I tend to give the little guys a go.

WIM, I sadly don't need XXXX to put anymore hairs on my chest.

Bigdaa, is that "toecutter" from Mad Max?

majorrager, was hopeful of picking up my bike today to head off to Phillip Island but alas, I'll have to make do with the 250.

G'day from PhilS

Thanks for the welcome message. Sorry to hear about your off. I live near Bairnsdale and went and saw the bikes off yesterday for the Barry Sheene ride. Have been a couple of times on the ride to Morwell and back Work committments have prevented me from going to the Island. This looks a good site. Have looked but cant find any Australian forums for the Hornet. You are right about Firestorm and Superhawk.
Regards Phil

Which do you recommend from the ones that are exported to USA?
