Hello from Calgary

Hi Guys, been lurking the last few weeks and finally decided to post up,

My bike is a 2003 Honda 919, all stock (as far as I know).

Bought it in late August. 15,300 kms at time of purchase. 17,500 now Been doing lots of riding.

Heres a pic:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Bike was in pretty good shape. New tires. Recent oil change. HOWEVER: Was apparently tipped over in the owners garage. Dent on right side tank (small) and light scratches.

Owner also "didnt know" the clutch was slipping in high RPM (Older gent). I didnt wind it out during test drive so didnt find out until the day after I bought it. Either way have clutch plates on the way. Tried clutch adjustment, checked into oil used (Service history from dealer), always Honda oil done at dealer. Going to put it in myself this weekend if the parts arrive.

For $3450 im super happy with it.

Also: Its my first bike.

Lots of experience with motocross so the power isn't a big issue with me. Planning on upgrading to a bigger bike in a year or two.

Thanks for the warm welcome Andrew.

Definitely looking into getting some mods. Already PM'd ariannasdaddy about his debaffled cans. Been lurking since a few weeks before I bought the bike

Not going to go crazy with the mods as Im on a very tight budget. (Which is why I dont want to ruin my stockers in case I dont like the sound). Either way aftermarket exhaust is out of my price range so Im going to give the debaffled route a try.

Done alot of research on the bike between wristtwisters and 919.org and am super pumped about the bike. Hoping to get another 2 or 3 thousand kms on before I put it away for sled time. Already did the flapper mod and liked it.

Welcome fellow calgaryian! There are a few of us here. I think I saw your bike once in the north/west. Not many of that color in our area. If you ever want to go for a ride, let me know.

Thanks guys.

Doing my clutch later today. Should be fun. Ill post results. Maybe a how to? Not sure if thats needed as most people have service manual/have done it before.

Also been looking into a home made radar detector handlebar mount. Tried googling a DIY one for a bike but no luck, and not willing to shell out big money for a proper one.

Here is what I have come up with:

Using this link, Im going to do what this guy did but use the screws to adjust it 90 degrees. I think it should work but I'll let you know. If it does I'll post the results and a how to. However the radar detector will be upside down, didnt know if this was an issue or not so I checked escort forums and people are doing it alot using the visor mount so should be OK. Only pain in the ass part is I'll probably put some saran wrap or clear plastic over the front so I dont have to be cleaning bugs off my $500+ detector.

Thread that inspired the idea:
DIY: Radar Detector Mount For as Little as $2 - AcuraZine Community

For less than $5 Im definately willing to give it a try.

Also going to have to order a 12V adapter and wire it in under the seat as Ive seen in a few how to's.

Well I was a little optimistic about the clutch cover gasket. Thought OK I'll be careful and I won't need one. Then it came off in 10 pieces. Everything's in and ready just waiting on a new gasket to get here so I can go for a ride. Kind of a tease.

Welcome. Just did the bafflectomy today and love it. Noticeable acceleration increase and not loud at all.
