G'day from Melbourne

Greetings everyone. It is great to find an active online community which has lots of Hornet owners. Kudos to all the administrators and the contributors.

I purchased my 2007 Hornet over two years ago after my 125cc Ace was stolen - I know, big jump! I didn't ride too many bikes so I can't compare but I love my Hornet. It is currently stock other than the bar-end mirrors. I have dreams of making big things with it but I'm terrible at fixing stuff.

Here to learn and contribute if I can.

Cheers

How's it going Kaan. I live on Flinders island, just below you. The black engine on your bike is cool.

Hello Islandboy. Yeah, the darker engine definitely drew me to this particular bike (along with other factors) when I was shopping around. I did a trip to Sydney to take a look at it, and brought it back to Melbourne the next day

Does Flinders Island have awesome roads like Tasmania does?

Flinders island has your typical tassie country roads. Most are twisty and we'll sealed. There just isn't enough. Bit like going round a fish bowl. Zero traffic, just the odd ute to chew up and spit out. I would shit my pants on a bike in Melbourne traffic. Will consider a trip on ferry to tassie when bored. Awesome bike weather at the moment on our end of the planet.

Welcome Kaan! You came to the right place for Hornets. Also love the black engine. Wish we got them in the states.

Thank you for the kind greetings. It just took me 2 years to realise this is where 919'ers unite!

Melbourne traffic can get a bit hectic, then it can get very boring. Luckily, the twisties are not too far out of the city. Victoria has decent roads for riding, funny I didn't get a chance to ride the Great Ocean Road yet.

Taking my bike to Tassie has been the plan since my visit there but the darn Spirit of Tasmania is pricy. But I will do it eventually.

For all who like the black engine, I'm attaching more photos. It is surprising that they did not introduce that option in the states.

Great Ocean road is fantastic. Perfect for your 900 hornet. I'm surprised you haven't done it. By the way that black engine looks awful, I've got a dead slug grey one if you would like to swap. Damn I wish my engine was black.

Welcome! Wonder why the choice was made to offer the all-black engine too. Was it just looks, or is there a functional purpose and if so why didn't the US get it?

GOR usually is too far and too busy with tourist cars. We usually tend to do trips to Kinglake or Reefton spur to enjoy some twisters.

Black engine is just for cosmetics I think. Just grab some black spray paint, what's the worst that can happen :P

Yep forgot about tourists. Been 20yrs since I was in Victoria. I'm afraid tassie's just as bad these days. Autumn's probably the best time for avoiding this hazard and still have good riding weather.
