FNG

Just picked up a 2002 919 with 8800 miles on it. Starting to ride again after not riding for seven years. Looking forward to any and all information I can get from you guys. I will upload a video and pictures later.

Congrats on a really low milage purchase. Plenty of info on the 919 around here. Starting with the basics, it's new to you and 16 years old. You should go thru all the fluids, look at the brake pads, chain condition, fork seals. Not a bad idea to do a go-thru on the forks, check the age of the tires using the DOT codes.

Give us a rundown on what mods you have, PCIII, shock, etc...

Pretty bullet proof bike really, not a lot of issues. Common things seem to be the FPR (Fuel Pressure Reg), Weak battery start issues have been reported. Some don't like the stock exhaust position, but California bikes don't seem to have the exhaust smell because of a cat. converter.

Many aren't too happy with the stock suspension, but the engine seems pretty amazing. I haven't had a lot of different bikes, but this one seems to be a pretty amazing bike.

So I got the bike from my brother-in-law and when I got it the bike wasnt running because of the FPR. I changed it out and now I am going to be running some Sea Foam through the gas to help get any old gunk out. He had laid it down on the clutch side pretty good and dented the tank and scratched the hell out of the crank case but other than that it is in great shape.

As promised pictures of the 919. I was wrong about the mileage. Not 8800 but 11800. Still pretty good though I think.

I luv a black 919. So much so I made my red one black. I don't think the gunmetal metallic black was available in Australia.
Nice find.
Gonna mod or keep her stock?
