expected price for a new '05 919

Hi, i'm new here.
I'm looking at an 05 919. I just love the looks of this bike.

What would be the expected price for an 05 new ( 1km ) 919 ?
it has been sitting on a floor for 4 years. they are asking 8k cdn.
that's ~6400$ us. + freight, + taxes.

is that reasonable ?.. they seem pretty firm on that price.

I'm also worried it may have parts that would need replacing.. dried seals or dried tires ? etc. What would you do if you would get it.. as basic preventive maintenance. ( and bargaining chip )

you can buy a 07 with 0 miles for 7000$ usd out the door... that equals about 6000 plus your tax and stuff...

tell them to enjoy their doorstop and hop on a plane south and buy one and break it in proper on the ride home...

IMHO...

get them to drop a grand off the price, otherwise just look for an 07.

I purchased my 05 (brand new) in July of 08. $6875 USD. It had 11 miles in it courtesy of my test ride. They had an 07 on the floor with it (also brand new). They don't move to quick here in Iowa. I would look around.

Should be a lot of used ones in the Montreal area where they now charge them $1,300.00 a year to put them on the road before insurance,I have a couple of friends selling as they just can't afford that and insurance.

The 919 is not considered a crotch rocket.. so plates are 520 not 1185.
That was one of the first things i've checked. I'm not interested in paying 1200$ of plates.

still... would have been great to have a brand new bike.

anybody tried a 599 hornet ?
i'm wondering if i'm too heavy and tall at 6' & 230# for a bike like this.. will I get bored or kill the suspension ?

599s are fun i rode a 04 real flickable but i will stick to the 919 more get up and go. not that the 599 is slow, revs higher and faster. but just a little to small for me. feels like a toy compared to mine, plus its pink

I have imported bikes from the U.S. to Canada a couple of times. If you follow all the steps (there are some good websites about importing a vehicle to Canada) it isn't too difficult. Personally, I would value the hassle and the various administrative fees and inspection fees as being worth about $1000 - if you can find a bike in Vermont, NH, or upstate NY that is more than $1000 cheaper than you can find locally, I would seriously consider making the drive. The lower retail prices in the U.S. lead to lower resale prices for used vehicles.

how ya gonna be $3500 for an 06 ?!?!

you could pay me to ride it to canada, spend the $1000 on paperwork and still save money
