drag racing my 919

Hi every one I have been browsing this site for months its very cool. so much info to look at. I got a 2007 919 in march. 5000 miles later I love it. Had my third trip to the drag strip yesterday and after 9 passes my best pass was 11.312 @ 116.75 with 1.78 60'. Only mods I made were bafflectomy, flapper valve, and I strapped down the forks. I got the info to do this from wrist twisters.

I want to see a pic of the strapped front end if you please.

Wow nice runs man! What's your technique? What RPMs you launch at etc.? I've never had the bike to a track so i'm curious. Seems to me that it would be a real pain keeping the front end down in an all out drag race?

Drag racing my 919

I am tyring to attach some pictures to my post but I keep getting an invalid post message. I will try to get the pictures up soon. As for my technique stage at about 5000 rpm and roll into the throttle on the last yellow and control the wheelie with the clutch. Speed shift at red line and go through the traps in 4th gear. I plan to go back to the track next month in cooler weather to see if the times improve. It was 80 degrees when I was there last weekend.

Great pix of your take-off Larry! Thanks so much for sharing! Sure lets us have fun vicariously from your adventure!

Please explain this metric? Is that the first 60 feet in 1.78s?
>1.78 60'

Does the strip have enough trap readings to estimate your 0-60MPH time?

Larry,

I see a nice looking Z28 in your garage too. Now I know why your strip runs are very low. What does your Z28 do?

riding is an addiction, no matter what you ride.

Great pics larry, Love both the car and the Bike. Wish I had some action shots at the strip of my Roadrunner. And you are right its an addicting thrill, the competiion of it and just running WFO! Not to Threadjack ya, but heres my ol strip runner, 440, 4 Speed, 4.56 rear, Manual Steering and brakes, nothing but what you need to go fast!

And since your a Chevy guy, my Cousins 396 SS 70 Chevelle, Its purdier than mine, not nearly as fast though!
