Considering a 919 in St. Petersburg, FL

Hi All,

Just sold my beloved '03 CBR1100XX Blackbird. Even with VFR clip-ons, I'm just getting too old and too infirmed to continue the Sport Bike lean.

Considering either a Honda 919 or a Bandit 1250S. Your comments will be appreciated.

Regards,

John G.

Welcome. A lot of us here would recomend the 919. Have you taken a look at the Suzuki B-King. The looks of that bike are kinda growing on me. I love my 9er though. Especially with its 5 gal tank. Makes for some long trips. Good luck with your decision, and again welcome.

Howdy. I like Hondas in case you couldn't tell. The Bandit looks like a nice rig though. Good luck with the internal struggle.

Welcome DRDYNO! Get out and ride an example of each. Buy the one that you feel fits your shape an riding style more closely.

Welcome DrDyno. Both bikes are great machines, but like HondaJim, I'm partial to Hondas. Ken needs to weigh in on this.

Hi Darkace,

Thanks for the welcome!

I have about 100 miles on a friend's B-King. They feel much smaller and lighter once you're rolling and they are stink-on-sh*t fast! Once you're on it, you won't be thinking about the looks. Besides, there are already three or four after-market cans for it.

My only reservation for the B-King is $13-Large. You could have a new Bandit, a slightly used 919 and gas money for $13K.

Hi Wisco,

I'd love the opportunity to ride them both. Around here, the stealers make you buy first and ride later.

If I see any used ones, locally, I'll take your advice.

DR, I came to a 919 from a 92 VFR that I had for 14 Years. I too could not do the lean anymore. The 919 is awesome. The only thing I miss is the windscreen but I know I can get one if I wanted to bad enough. The riding position is much easier on the wrists and neck than my VFR.
Also, I'm in tampa, are you on Tampasportbikes? I know it may be uncouth to suggest another forum but it is a Tampa Bay local forum that has several meets per week for local sportbike riders. It can be a local supplement to this great forum.
I hope to see you out some day on a 919.
Geoff
