Another damn 919
Hello, since I've already posted my anti-China rant, I thought I'd better say hello. I'm a Brit living in the US in SoCal, started riding 37 years ago on a Honda C95 154cc"Dream", followed by a CB175, a Yamaha CS5E (yeuk), a Yam R5 (great bike), a CB400F (another great bike), brief interlude on a Kawa 200 single for commuting then to a Suzook GS500 now on the other side of the road (it was ok), a SV650S (great bike too) and finally the 919 in, ahem, "smoke". I would have preferred a top coat of shiny paint instead of just the primer Mr Honda. It is a Cal spec with cat and carbon cannister and I've never had the exhaust stink which some have alluded to.
I tend to leave my bikes stock so I have the flyscreen and that's it. Yep, full rear mudguard and all stickers in place, large turn signals (I'd make them bigger if anything - I want to be seen). Touch wood, haven't dropped a bike (or been hit) since I was 19, so I'm either incredibly skillful or just plain lucky either way I guess I'm overdue.
I'm a poisoned dwarf, 5'6/138 so I have enough problems hanging onto the 9 now when I open it up, so more performance I can live without until I put velcro on my seat and leathers.
I should add I was scarred as a youth by 2 of my friends buying Kawasaki H1s (an H1B and an H1F). I've never been the same after riding the H1B, if you get the chance - do it. It's like someone trying to club you off the bike with a baseball bat, lol. Only 60HP but all in 2000 rpm.
