919 Buying Questions...

Hi,
I like the Honda 919 and I am just about to buy it. I've never ridden it before, just sit on it at dealer.

I have some questions:
- My Height/Weight : 5'11"/ 155 lbs. Is the bike too big/heavy for me ? My curent motorcycle is Yamaha V-Star 650 Custom, around 20lbs heavier than 919 but the CG is lower.
- After searching, I found used 2003 919 with 3000 miles clean $4700, the owner bought it new in 2006. Is it a good price ? Should I make an offer ? How much ?
I found a brand new 2007 from a dealer $7499. Which one should I buy ?

Thanks.

Bike will be perfect for you. There are several female riders here who enjoy 919s and 599s. I would say go with the used bike, what mods does the bike come with? really low miles so the bike wont need any maintenance for around 12000 miles which is the honda recommended 16000 mile valve maintenance; however most people wait until atleast 22000miles before doing their valves.

Recommend trying to get the seller down to 4000 or 4300. part of the price and be contributed to low miles, but i paid 4000 for an 04 that had 13000 miles

Your height and weight are fine for the 919.

There sems to be some good deals out there on used bikes and the private seller might actually let you ride it. (Something that doesn't happen very often with the dealers here is Florida.)

I check out the used bike and see if you like it. With Honda quality behind the 919, you wont go wrong with a used bike if it hasn't been abused.

That being said, there is nothing like owning a brand new machine.

You will have to chose what's best for you. You won't go wrong.

I bought new, but only because I'm keeping this thing til the wheels fall off. $7499 is too much. Bide your time and get a better deal, if you don't want to go used (which I would do if I had it to do over again).

Thanks for the replies..
My concern is, the 2003 is like the first gen (2002-2003) then the 2004-2007 they upgrade the suspensions...does it make a big different ?
Is that the only different between 2003 to the newer one ?
I already asked the local dealers here in Oregon last week to lower their price and I sent the info about other state dealers that can sell with a lower price, but no reply yet.
So should I buy used or new ? I need more suggestions...

Thanks.
