West VA all day ride - Sunday 5/31

Aside from weather, or my babysitter falls through, it's on.

Leaving Northern VA 730-800.

Gonna map the ride out after this dc/johnson fight, but loose plans are 39/250/33. It'll be moderate to fast paced. My general rule is fast in the twisties, and slow down to regroup on the straights.

I encountered a good amount of gravel(chipseal) for about 5 miles on US250 just 10 miles west of Monterey. I was there last Thursday(5/14)

Be vigilant!

Thanks Doc. That's definitely a part of my route. BP in Monterey is a good stop for gas and Gatorade.

They definitely are. Toshi's making the run with us after not riding all last season. Got a couple of buddies on Panigales, but I don't think they want to make the 2 hour trip to get to these roads.

Excellent. Glad Toshi can ride.

Side note: I'm thinking of going down to a Yamaha Demo Day down in Richmond on Friday or Saturday and ride an FJ-09 and maybe an FZ-09.

by a good amount of gravel, presently means literally the entire road at parts is covered in gravel. 250 west of Monterey to the WV line. I was there sunday. it's really not worth riding through.

Does anyone know what the hell the point of the gravel is? Since you survived the roads of VA without ending up in jail for a speeding ticket they are trying to get their last oz of flesh before you escape or what?

I'd skip 250 probably. 39>55/219>66 maybe swing by snowshoe, some nice switchbacks and impressive views>92/28 stop by "The Grat Bag Thang"* > 28 > 33

*tip; theres a 2nd parking lot closer to the telescopes, they have a gate at the point that you can't drive any closer, unless you want to walk about 20 minutes drive to the 2nd parking lot for a view of the telescopes. Walking back to the telescope is a mile and half. there's also gas in Green Banks right before you would get to the telescope.

Nope. I rode down to Richmond on Friday and when I got up to the sign in, I realized my license was on my copier at home. It was a shame because there was hardly any people there. Oh well it was a nice day for a ride.

We did have a great ride on Sunday. Probably did a little over 500 miles. Left home at 6:30 am and home at 9:00 pm. Shmoo knew some great roads through WV!
