I wish I could, I love drag racing, never have taken the bike, but I used to run my 69 Roadrunner in the summers. Unfortunately that weekend I will be at a graduation in ND. You should go and take lots of pics!!
Here a some pics from Sunday at the drag strip. They wouldn't let me race due to my temporary seat contraption. Its OK though because my nerves were getting the best of me. A guy on a stretched out V-rod fell over while doing burn outs and another guy crashed over into the other lane and took out one of the black boxes.
The guy on the blue 2008 Kawasaki 600 is my brothers' brother in law...he had never done it before, and had some trouble launching. My brother was on his orange 2004 ZX10R and his best run was a 10.6, we were teasing him that every year he gains a few pounds and every year he losses a 1/10th of a second. (Before you think a 10.6 is slow for a ZX10R, don't forget we are over a mile above sea level. Bike loose well over a full second at this altitude. Many people read that their brand new R1, Hyabusa, Gixxer will do a 8 or 9 second quarter mile and are shocked and disappointed when they run into high 10's and 11's.)
The guy taking the pictures had to cut out early, so he only took pictures of the trial/practice runs, not of the actual races. Somehow I managed to dodge the camera...I am hidden in a few shots. Oh yeah, I saw the coolest bike there...well you can see for yourselves.
It was fun but the weather sucked. It stared raining about noon, so we had to wait for them to dry the track. Then when I left about 3:30 there was a funnel cloud spotted and it started pouring on my way home on the highway, I got drenched pretty good. It was a nerve racking drive home for sure. At least I did not have to drive all the way to Strasburg like my brother did, he got soaked for the entire ride home.
Wow, looks like I missed a fun day at th track. I'd really like to go sometime this summer, too. The weather wasn't very rider-friendly at all this weekend...It's still ok though. Glad you had fun, Myztical!
Well, fire the engines! Spur this iron space-pony on!
