Tampa Dual Sport Ride - Any interest

I would like to organize a dual sport ride through some Jeep trails I am familiar with, along with some paved roads. Just checking to see how many d/sport riders are in the Tampa area that may be interested. Since these are public roads/marked trails - vehicles should be legal/registered.

Since I am new to this forum, a little about me:
-My dirt experience goes back about 15 years, as in it has been at least 15years since I rode a dirt bike. Watching me ride in the sand is great entertainment for all (except me)

-I just sold my R1150GS after wrestling it through the fire trails of Croom and one trip through Richloam. I would like to get some more dirt experience

-Got a new 'o8 KLR, it's too shiny. It is also a lot lighter than the GS and easier to pick up.

So, is anyone interested? Please post or PM and I will get a date and route together.

Yes, jetblast is required to attend so he can demonstrate everything he learned at 'dirt bike school'

Joe

definitely interested.
I wont get mine registered until next week and still need to add my crashbars but definitely!

You and I are probably will likely be the only sincere responses to come from anyone around the area.

Order your bars quick! I ordered the SW Moto bars and they won't arrive until mid-January!

There are a couple riders from the KLR forum that are interested too.

Should probably keep it around 5-8 riders, definitely less than 10. Don't ya think?

Maybe a Saturday or Sunday between Thankgiving and Christmas?

Yeah, stop hijacking my thread Mr Moderator!

(I ordered my bars from TwistedThrottle. I had a set of SW's on my GS, they were very nice. The welds and paint looked much better than happy trails)

Planning on Dec 15th for this dual sport ride (one week after Kevin's event)

Definitely riding:
Joe (KLR)
Andy (KTM)
Frank (GS)

Maybe:
Kevin? (KLR)
Rob? (KLR)

I'm planning 2-3 hours on Saturday morning, starting at 8-9 o'clock so it doesn't occupy the entire day?
Let me know what you think, PM me if interested and I will send my cell# to you.

The 15th is no good for me, doing my private pilot-glider check ride with the FAA examiner.
Gonna have to pick another day...Maybe the 16th? (Sunday)

Hi All,

Riding on Sunday!

I went out with Andy (KTM625) to get some quick dirt lessons so I wouldn't embarrass myself too badly next weekend. We picked some pretty good trails in the NW corner of Richloam to ride. I think that we should plan on riding in the afternoon/evening as it is hunting season and morning/afternoon is the busy time.

I would suggest that if you have anything attached to your bike, you remove it before hand. I successfully removed my rear bag (ripped the strap off on a landing), a hold down strap for one of my soft saddlebags, and my left rear turn signal (again).

We had a great time, once we got Andy's KTM running again at the gas station.
Andy will be leading the advance group, I'll be bringing up the rear to make sure no one gets lost (AKA - I'm slow).

I will email a map with the roads/trails marked if I have time this week. Otherwise I will bring copies for everyone on Sunday.
