Here's a link to 9news, they have a good forcast and a nice selection of live radar too...

9NEWS.com | Denver, Colorado | Weather Network | Forecast

Looks like it'll be like today, possible sprinkles and the unsettled air that goes with it...kind of a "take your chances" day...good for short runs but not long trips

May 16th >> Joe Wright Reservoir

It's time to get another ride together. There has been some interest in this ride for the 16th of May leaving at 13:00 from Fort Collins.

Stanford Rd to Stanford Rd - Google Maps

There has even been some talk about a Picnic afterward with family members, you know to kick off the season. Show your interest in either one and we will put something solid together. Suggestions welcome. There are 3 people committed as of today.

Jeez Jim, you always pick the days I have other stuff going on! I'm doing the MSF advanced rider's course on the 16th! If it finishes in time, I'll swing by for the picnic though!

Man, I was gonna take that class till I read this report. MSF Advanced Rider Course You will have to let us know if it is worth it other than an Insurance discount. I think if I go any lower on my insurance they will be paying me. Haha.
One good thing about being old.

Well, there will be other rides. I will post pics and a review. Hopefully you can make it there in time. Meeting point is TBA If you can, then bring some of the fellow students. .

So, do you have to do the classes in order? Like, take the Basic, Advance, What ever comes next??? Seems like I saw a class going on before and they were riding 250cc cruisers...is that what you do the course with?

That sounds like a good plan, Jim...I'll try to get there, but if not then next time! Ride safe, and I'll look forward to telling you about the class.

That's the basic class. I don't believe they care if you do the classes in order or not, Nadia...as long as you're not a total newb, and have your endorsement.... I do believe you'll be fine. I'll pm you the info on the class...

I am thinking about it! So the plan is to start the ride at 1300??? So ride will be over about 1700 hours?? Then BBQ about 1800? Does that sound about right. Just trying to see if it'll work for me...gotta allow for extra time since I'd be coming from Denver.

Um, Ya, that sounds about right. from the middle of Fort Collins it's about 68 miles there and the same back 55mph average, and that's 2.5 hours of ride time. Lets say 1.5 hours of breaks and that's puts us at about 5pm. That's pretty conservative. Sunset will be around 7:40pm, because of the mountains. That leaves a good two hours of sun shine after the ride. (remember, this is conservative) I can have the picnic a my HOA greenbelt space, and move the party to the house if it lasts. Myztical, and any others, you can surf the couch (have two and a guest room) if you need to, I have Monday off, so I will be around. I would like to start earlier, but some guys can't get going till 1pm. It should be fine.

OK. Fort Collins, Colorado (80521) Conditions & Forecast : Weather Underground The weather looks like it will cooperate on Sunday. Looks like it will snow tonight. I love Colorado. I would like to have the picnic at my place but now My girl says she might have to work on Sunday. We are trying to find a way around that right now, it will work out. The meeting place should be determined early. I live in the center of town, unless you want to ride through town on the way there, I suggest we meet at the Northern end somewhere, and end the ride at the picnic site. Departure time remains 13:00 and ride is still to Joe Wright Res. This is the season kickoff ride. It would be nice to see a decent turn out for this. I have an unofficial count of 7 bikes on the ride now, it's shaping up nicely.

There should be at least 14 at the after ride picnic. That's hot dogs, burgers, drinks, chips, buns, condiments, veggies, and sides for all. Any volunteers to bring something? On Friday I will tally what people will bring and try to fill in what we are still missing.

OK so here is what is solid on this Sunday's ride.

We will meet at the Conoco @ Ted's Place right where HWY14 meets HWY287 @ 12:45 on the 16th of May, Sunday. Riders should be gassed and ready to go by 13:00. We will ride to the reservoir and ride back. (refer to loaded map above) There will be no designated leader and no sweeper. We will end the ride at my place for the picnic, we should arrive there at no later than 17:00. Guests are welcome at the picnic, in fact encouraged. Party will end when everyone is gone.

If you do not want to bring something to the picnic, PM me and I will get whatever you intend to bring and you can pay me back when we get back. I have plenty of space but only one grill. (might be able to use my neighbors too) The sun should set at about 19:40 or so (mountain shade) So will leave extra time for some outdoor fun with kids if they come. If anyone does invite a guest that will be at the picnic, they can arrive at the house as early as 14:30. My Girlfriend has to work on Sunday but, will get off work early (14:00) and will be at the house to receive gusts. I will post a list of items that still need to be obtained for the food items. I will purchase the Meats and Buns. (hamburger patties and Hot dogs and Beef Franks) We still need toppings, condiments, veggies, drinks, sides, deserts, and anything else you can think of. Oh, corn someone has to bring corn. LOL

OK. So on Friday I will post what we still need to gather and give a head count of persons who have said they will be there. So far we have a good 15 total at the picnic and 9 Bikes on the ride. If anyone has any suggestions please chime in.

Declan, I'm assuming this is what you asked me about on FB?

I'd love to come out but can't make this one work.
...but I talked to Jill last night and she's definitely down for coming out again later in the year!

If you guys are available to do something like, say... Labor Day weekend, we'll be there.
Jill is out of vacation for the year already, so we're looking for free holidays tacked onto the weekends.

Hope you all have a great ride!!!
Be safe out there

EDIT: Oh, and one more thing... make sure to chew your corn reeeaaaal good

I will finally meet you Omaha. You are, after all, the reason I'm on this site, Thanks again. Next time.

(This was reply to a member about bringing money instead of stuff):Yes, That would be cool, A buy in huh? well I guess so, but you decide how much you want to buy in. I will be picking everyhting up, it looks like. I have almost everything we will need ,already, for 15 people to eat and drink (lightly)

Any special requests? Let me know.

So, if no one brings anything and people still show then it will be there, and if not... then I have food for the next week or so.

OK It's Saturday Night. Those of us that live in the Fort Collins and surrounding areas know that Greely was just threatened by tornados. Tomorrow's forecast is partly cloudy and close to 70f 7-Day Forecast for Latitude 40.48N and Longitude 104.92W (Elev. 4795 ft) Man I love Colorado.

As far as I can tell the ride is still on. I will check at 10:00 for a last minute update and then head out to the rally point listed above. This will be the Ride==> N College Ave to Stanford Rd - Google Maps If you click on the camera to the right of number one of directions you will see where we will meet. Street view will give you very nice previews of the ride when you drop the guy on a loopy corner.

There will be enough food and drink for a dozen people easy. PM me, If you have not already, for address and directions of party.

Well that was a great ride (Once we got it going) and a great after party, if I don't say so myself.
It was good to meet everyone in person and seeing some familiar faces too. I hope someone else got some better pics. I have none for the after party, I was busy hosting.

Anthony, Thanks for bringing your grill over and supplying 1/2 the stuff for the party, You're awesome.

Here is the best pic got of the ride. (I might be a bit biased)

Way Cool, Can't wait for the next one

I heard the same thing about IMI, someone should put that together.
