2nd Annual Indy MotoGP Wristtwisters Gathering

It's coming up quickly, only a month away! I'd like to host a get together at my tavern Friday evening, August 28th. We had a small crowd last year for our inaugural event, hope to build on that this year and meet several more Wristtwisters members!

Here's the info:

Spencer's Stadium Tavern
802 S. West Street
Indianapolis, IN 46225

Spencer's Tavern

It's located a few blocks south of the downtown area where they'll line up all the bikes. Last year we met for drinks and dinner, then walked uptown and checked out the thousands of bikes. Open to suggestions and please let me know if you plan to attend or need more information.

Scott

Sounds like we'll have a great turn out this year! Dustin will have tables reserved for our group, hopefully it'll be nice weather and he'll have his R1200GS there as well.

The Gutbuster isn't your grandma's waffle fries. Take something like 2lbs of waffle fries, pour a big bowl of chili on top with sour cream, onions, and cheese. Don't forget the hot sauce! Ok, I might have to make my way down there before the 28th.

Ah yes, Tubby's Gutbuster, a classic! Don't forget the bacon on top either, and remember we are not liable for possible heart complications.

Hmmm, seems that I missed the boat on reasonable accommodations in the Indy area, so it looks like a day trip at the very least. Just been so busy with work I forgot to think the whole thing through thoroughly.

Which day is the big bike night for us? That's the day I'll head down!

MotoGP Schedule of Events

I'm on the Speedway Public Safety Committee, had our pre-MotoGP race meeting this afternoon. I've attached a schedule of events at the track and like last year, there will also be events in downtown Indianapolis Friday and Saturday nights.

IMS Schedule: http://freepdfhosting.com/e957056ad0.pdf

Bikes on Meridian will take place starting about 6pm and running until midnight or later on Friday and Saturday. Meridian Street will be closed off from South Street initially up to Maryland, but they will close it off further north as needed and expect to close it all the way to the Circle.

There will also be a stunt bike show again on North Street and Meridian by the War Memorial, North St. will be closed as well.

No Broadripple event this year, they're keeping it all concentrated downtown and at IMS.

First Colts preseason game of the year was last night, tavern was packed! Had several bikes there, told them about our bike night in a couple of weeks so we should have all kinds of riders join us.

Also, check out this thread if you haven't read it already: https://wristtwisters.com/events/2105...rs-needed.html

I may be attending this event!

One question. I have never been to Indy speedway. Where is a good place to sit in the stands?

Looks like the southwest vista is a good spot. Unless there are obstacles you should be able to see turns 1 thru 4 and some of 5. Opinions?

Thanks.

After many years and many dreams I have realized my goal of riding in all 50 states!

I liked J stands for Formula 1 but am leaning toward open infield seating for the motoGP.

SW Vista works well for MotoGP, good view of several turns. I think we'll probably do general admission this year and just wander around. We were in a suite last year thankfully, but assuming there's not another monsoon that's not really the best place to see the race.

I believe you can buy two day practice and qualifying tickets for $25, or three day passes including race day for $75. General admission tickets will be available at the gate.

The two day pass must be at the gate only? I don't find it on the web site for sale.

Hmmm, I don't see it either. Just seemed to remember that was an option last year, you could give the IMS ticket office a call and ask.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like SW vista or gen. admission is the way I'll go.

Thanks. I'm hoping to be at the tavern on Friday night. About what time will this event take place?

Hey, whenever you guys want to show up! I'm guessing most should be there in the 6-7pm range, grab a beer and a bite, then head uptown to check out the Bikes on Meridian.
