Okay, Wrist Twisters!!!!! We've got plenty of time to plan this out. Won't kill ya to take of a couple of days off work (you might even enjoy it ). For those who want to see our guys riding at VIR, I live about an hour away. My abode is smallish, but could accomodate a couple of folks coming from crazy distances. Or, if you need some help with other local accomodations, PM me and I'll do all the legwork.

Let's support our racers!!!!!!!

Spoiler:
"The list is an absolute good. The list is life."

"What kind'a tires you runnin'?"

Only if you promise to submit the video to AFHV. At least then I'll have a chance at the $10K first prize.

Poke, poke, hehehe!

On the lighter side of things... This morning I brought the bike out of hibernation from October last year to ride to work. Pulled up behind a pick up and could see I only had one light on. So I just flicked the red button on the right side for my high beams... Yeah, that's the engine kill stupid.

Was a funny ride in.

Back to thread... What were we talking about? T1 or something (Eric = Biaggi)?

So, you ARE talking about me. I tell ya what man, coming from a guy who has been down on turn one at VIR as many times as you have, you would think you are Robert Downey jr. in Less then zero.

Hey, at least it was a real crash and I didn't just fall down in the grass because I was scared my tires weren't warm enough, shhheesssh.

Sooooooooo James...

Is your plan to get certified on the 22nd and then race on the 23rd? I and some other monkey (who used to sell jerky) want to come whitness your AWESOMENESS on an SV.

So, are you only racing on Sunday and how many races and at what times? May have to take into consideration "hang over" effect and the possability that I may crash something in Eric's garage (inside joke).

Anywho... if you giving this ago, I'd like to check it out.

Let me / us know!

Yep, but my last race should be around 2 or 3. The LWT race in the middle of everyone else. And they are only sprint races of 7 laps.

no more expensive than doing trackdays. The only added cost is transponder rental.

Trackday cost @ VIR for a Sunday/Monday: $365

Cost for race weekend w/WERA for four sprint races & transponder rental: $335.00 Add a solo race on Sat and the total jumps to: $415.00

Either way, you still have to buy tires. The annual membership fee for NESBA is $75.00. The Annual membership fee for WERA is $100.00

The money is gonna go somewhere. Might as well have a goal to shoot for.

Don't get upset james, just busting on you. With trackdays, you can buy nice used take offs for cheap. When you start getting competitive in racing you will want fresh tires. Ask Greg how many sets of tires a weekend he goes thru???

Oh I'm far from upset. Just weighing out the costs. If it were way more expensive than trackdays I would not do it. Tires are tires and I can still use takeoffs. I just have to use DOT spec tires because I'm running in S/S. Pirelli SC @ the track will cost me $360 a set. I'm hoping to use one set for every two race weekends. If I start doing better in the points, then I'll spring for fresh tires at every race weekend. Lest we also mention I am racing an SV. Even with cost of the bike and all the modifications, ohlins, etc..., I have less invested than the cost of a new 600RR on the showroom floor.

so $415 buys you how much track time in minutes? i only do the "big" tracks maybe once a year, maybe twice. can do two days at jennings for 235, get probably five solid hours of on-track time. tally, $120 for a day, 7+ sessions, more if they run open track late, $75 for half a day noon til 5.

i've been looking into it too, but $415 for 5 sprints, at what, 8 laps apiece, maybe 12? no thanks!

$415 buys you 4 sprint races @ 7 laps each on Sunday and a solo20 @ 16 laps on Sat. Add to that the practice sessions and that's your track time.

At a normal trackday you get 6 or maybe 7 twenty minute sessions which is about 2+ hours of track time.

yeah, but my point is $415 can by me 3+ trackdays, close to seven hours of riding

and 44 laps is what, 80 minutes of riding time? factor maybe two hours of practice? my math more than doubles that time for racing. not trying to convince you otherwise, just saying for me, trackdays are the cheaper alternative. if money wasn't as much of an issue, i'd run a few race weekends this year
