V-Twin vs Inline-4?

I see the difference in the displacement requirements for the V-twin and I-4 in SBK. Also, I get that the V-twin has more torque, and I also see that the CBRs have much higher RPMs than the 919. But what I can't get a good answer for is the mechanical Why's.

Is the V-twin torquier (new word?) because torque is hp per time and 2 cylinders get to peak faster than 4? Is max rpm just a function of how much fuel/air is dumped in and then ensuring that the motor can handle the stress?

Is there a good link that discusses general motor setup or a quick explanation?

Thanks in advance for your time answering my novice questions,

Jon

A 1000 CC vtwin has twice the displacement per cylinder that a I4 does. Displacement = Bore*Stroke. So in a V twin each cylinder will have a larger bore and stroke. A longer stroke will give you greater torque, its like using a longer lever to move an object. The longer the stroke however the farther your piston has to travel, which means a higher piston speed per revolution. This is what limits a V twin to lower RPM's.

It's worth noting that most red-blooded American men are up looking at porn right now, not flowbench and velocity...

can anyone explain why 919 revs so much lower compared to the cbrs and other inline fours? and also correct me if i am wrong but isnt the 98 99 fireblade engine in our 919s? if so what is different about it?

I was reading dyno charts the other day and 02 919 had like 100hp and 63tq... so if the engine is the one outta the fireblade why is this shwown 130hp and 68tq.
