The "Kid" is back

Back back.....

Okay 80% back. But I'm OK with that.

This past Sunday me and GPZturbo boy went to Beaverun for a a day of high speed frolic.....

For me it represented a reaffirmation of the fact that I wanna get on the track occassionally. I went to NJMP a coupla weeks ago and re-busted my cherry. Many of you here know that 4 years ago I messed myself up pretty good. Long story short I screwed my ankle up bad. Had surgery two years later and screwed it up worse. I pretty much swore off the track as it were but never sold my old "B" bike, my F3.

Well NJMP was really a big leap for me and I got out there and was scratching around but kinda timidly. I wanted to get out to another venue and see if I could find my Mojo. I spent the last two weeks getting the F3 ready (tires fluids chain brakes) but still failed tech for a weeping fork seal that got real bad when we traveled out there....

So we decided I would flog GPZ's bike that day but he beat me to it.....about the third session in he wiped out in turn one, a turn with ridiculous set-up speed, and real high corner speed if ya gots the nads. The bike slid, then flopped over and slid some more. He brought it in and we fixed it up and got it track worthy again. BTW Trent was bruised up but OK

Seems like every time we get together, one of us has a bad day. My day got better and better as the day progressed. His plateaued when he crashed but he was still out there like a real trooper.

Note the lack of panels and windshield!!!

Nice going and finding the Mojo. I have yet to make it out for a track this year. So i'm on the opposite end of the spectrum. I rode my old R6 with ratty bodywork for 4 years. Why fix it and put a nice paint job. As soon as you do that you'll throw it on the ground.

We still had a great time despite my trying to ruin it. It was cool to see the excitement in gdjam's face as the day went on & he realized he still "had it".

It had just started to drizzle, I pushed it too hard & payed the price which is so unlike me. I typically ride conservatively, never forcing passes, etc & staying well within my skillset. Got caught up in the moment I guess.
I rode horribly after the crash, not trusting myself or the bike. As gdjam put it "You looked like crap out there, I was laughing my ass off." I felt better later & was back to normal.
Redemtion came yesterday at NJMP when I got bumped to Red Group (intermediate) with tpm & was still flyin past a few guys. Nesba bumped me a few weeks ago.
Next scheduled day is 10/6. My swollen, purple ankle should be all better by then.
