supermoto race

I've decided to take my passion to the next level and cross something off my bucket list at the same time. I'm entering my first supermoto race in a couple weeks and think I am pretty much ready but wanted to ask for some opinions. I have thought about putting a bigger rear sprocket on for trail riding but haven't yet and I am wondering if it will help for this as well. the track is a go kart track so the straights are pretty short. I am thinking about going up 2 teeth in the rear for a little better low end. Or should I just wait and see what I think after the first time out?

I do not expect to be overly competitive with my bike, I just want to go have a fun time and improve my riding skills, seems like many of the riders there have a similar approach and they have a class that requires a 21" front wheel with DOT tires so it's perfect for people who can't afford the extra rims/tires and there are a few other dual sports out there so why not give it a whirl, I've wanted to do it since I first saw supermoto racing.

Yes. After seeing how short the staightaways are you should go up at least 2 teeth...maybe more as wr's are geared a little tall from the factory.
Best of luck and have fun!

race day

finally got to go have my fun. started out a little rough as my heart rate was going crazy and I completely F'd up the table top on the first lap of practice and went down hard. The second practice I leaned over a little too far for those knobbies and the back end slid out coming out of a hairpin onto the longest straight. The first heat race came and I was able to keep my heart rate in check and just relax and ride, had a great battle with another guy on DOT knobbies and I edged him out finally on the second to last lap. The main event went even better and I was even more relaxed, I pulled away from him little by little each lap. I had an absolute blast and can't wait for the next one. I went in with 3 goals today, the first being "have fun", the second being "become a better rider", and the third was to "not come in last" which was not important but a goal anyways. I met all three goals and I ended up coming in 2nd, although that may sound better then it is because there was only 3 people in my class, but it wasn't last.

these are few pic's my wife took, there was a professional photographer there so I may be able to get better ones in a few days.

if you are thinking of taking your bike to the track, go do it, you won't regret it.
