Streets or Big Track at Willow

Looking for some tips. My track day fix is calling. I used to do 2-3 a year when I was in Ohio. I did 2 last year before I moved. Mid-Ohio and Road Atlanta.

If things continue to be good, I can probably swing 1 day this year. Willow is my best bet here in California. I have wanted to ride that one anyway.

So...which do you suggest and why. I have my own thoughts but I want yours. Reminder I ride a TL1000R.

On a side note...glad I did not try and fly back to Ohio for the KTM ride day today. Getting regular reports and only 2 sessions in because of rain and they will ont let you ride in the wet. You geta KTM gear voucher as a rain check.

Nate, you should try sending a PM to Jayfooey. He's not on here much but he has intimate knowledge of both tracks and more here in SoCal.

Do the big track.

Streets was in disrepair a few years back and nowhere near as nice as the Big Track.

They are 2 different types of tracks...

The Willow Springs big track will test how big your balls are when it comes to speed, I'm dragging knee at 140mph on my 750 in turn 8, I'll say that since you have a big TLR the BIG track will be easier on you to ride... If you always wanted to ride Willow Springs, Do it! To me it is a one of a kind track!

Streets is a very fun track with tighter stuff, part of the track has been repaved, but the skid pad is a little rough but not bad if you pick some clean lines. The Bowl is a pretty fun part of that track! it has 20 degree banking! being that you have a big TLR you'll get a work out for sure!

Both tracks have elevation changes, Big Willow Springs the elevation change is very noticeable, and plays a big role in the design.

Like some said, do both! Streets and Big Willow Springs are next door to each other, trackdays are ran there all the time, do Streets on a Saturday and then Do the Big Track on Sunday!

Be sure to check out http://www.biketweakers.com/trackcalendar_2009.html for a date at the track when your ready.

Thanks Jayfooey! I have ridden tight technical tracks mostly. Mid-Ohio is actually very technical. Road Atlanta has some technical spots but is a bit more open. I enjoyed both.

Funds are a bit tight right now but I hope to do at least one. I will check out the calendars and keep you posted.
