The. only thing that Stoner will ever be remembered for is his on race winning skills and victories.
Sort of a modern day Eddie Lawson from Down Under.
Meanwhile, once it's all over for Rossi, he'll be remembered for much much more.
Sort of a Barry Sheene, but in a different kind of way.

"Rossi was forced to return to Yamaha after spectacularly failing on the Ducati with which Stoner won the 2007 world championship."

Funny how to that is always put out there, yet the bike Stoner rode was a completely different bike to what Rossi/Hayden were riding.

Written in Australia, mate, they are always going to back their own...the home-boys are well supported, in the same way that Hayden, Spies, et al get a pretty sympathetic run from the US moto-media.

Fair enough, just like poor Freddie Spencer ended up being slagged in Euro press by the Frau Freddie moniker.
What remains is Stoner's brilliance on ill handling machinery.
Supposedly it stems from his dirt track years and then riding ill maintained road racers with things like bent forks.
Stoner is one of the best to have straddled a bike.
But he's no fun past that.
I wonder what his "Dad" style will be like, my guess is that it might be pretty good.

Yup. Still US weekly for moto geeks.

I know that quote cam from Road Racing world. A US publications. Didn't look to see who the auther was though.
Yes, Rossi was on a different machine. One that he spent two years developing. His first year on ducati was even worse. I'm not taking away from Rossi, I'm a big fan, but the Ducati thing is a nice way to "normalize the data" so to speak. If nothing else, it shows how amazing Stoner is.

As for the US weekly part. I bet Stoner is a great guy to hang out with outside of the track. You'll likely get a straight answer when shooting the shit. No worries about him putting a wuppie cushion under your seat. Who wouldn't want to go hunting, fishing, and of road riding in the outback. Sounds like a great time to me. As for the father part. I'm not going t speculate. Never met the guy. And thankfully none of the moto bags I read have dug that deep into the guys personal life.
