So, not so good news for Nicky then?

Perhaps I am reading this wrong?

More so when the last thing said is this?

looks like he was a task in front of him, but he should be able to handle it no problem

Him not being able to handle is not my issue, my problem is him not being able to get to grips with it until mid season if not later because of the lack of practice. I have a lot of faith on the kid but, Ducati has a lot ridding on him and if he does not produce by years end, he could be looking gloomy next year.

Ducati loves their riders but if they don't produce quick, off they go.

I agree....they were filling bandwidth with that one.

But I read it b/c I fiend for anything moto-racing this time of year.

Nicky will get up to speed just fine this year....finishinhg 4th or 5th in the championship would be a great stride IMO. 6 or 7 is OK. Anything less I'll be disappointed. He's a veteran now. Gotta adapt and overcome.

He's done anyway... He was done as soon as they went to the 800cc format.

Nicky is too damn big to compete against 104lb jockeys when the entire premise of the sport is all about cornerspeed

Written in circles. Cliffs notes :" New bike, new tires, rider needs more time to familiarize himself with said bike. I'm afraid this may be a tough year for #69".

If so, where does he go from here. Selling cars?

Well I would think it is safe to say he never has to work again if he doesn't want to... he's made millions, but if he still wants to continue to compete with any chance of actually winning something other than the odd rain race on his home turf then he might want to consider WSBK. Other former MotoGP stars are there now (Biaggi, Checa) and are making a go of it plus it is the most exciting series to watch with in my opinion the deepest talent pool.

I mean let's face it half the MotoGP field is there because of their nationality and popularity not because they are world caliber riders I mean when Roger Lee Hayden can jump on a MotoGP bike at the last minute & place in the top 10 AND higher than any other rider on a green bike then there is obviously an issue with who's in those seats...

If by "done" you mean "not winning the championship" I begrudgingly agree. But I still think he can compete at a pretty high level in MotoGP, maybe top three. When Nicky has his sh*t together he's pretty darn good.

I wonder if there's some kinda surgery he could get to lop off 40 lbs.

Prolly easier to just hope they bump displacement again someday.
