Pics of MotoGP Tire Testing at Indy

Spent a couple of hours watching the test runs Wednesday afternoon, very cool to see MotoGP bikes running around the Speedway. First impression was that they're not as loud as I expected, more of an angry buzzing sound as opposed to the shriek of Indycars. Second impression was that they're really fast!

Not a big crowd, a few hundred perhaps, but a very diverse group. Many bike enthusiasts, several regular folk checking it out, and even some of the good ol' boys, shirtless and drunk like you see at every Indy track event.

The bike parking paddock caught my eye first...

Fans watching from the infield, only the south end of the track was open to the public, no grandstands.

Turn 2...was wishing I had a bigger lense!

Turns 3 & 4

Short straight between 5 & 6...blurry speed shots, but kind of cool.

Track layout for reference.

I can only imagine what the bike parking lot will be like for the race weekend, we'll have to get all the WT members together for a group shot! Probably will be the first time that more than one 919 will ever have been seen together in Indianapolis.

nice shots. i like the CBX!
So, they are using the F1 track but going the "right" direction!
I wish I could go but I already used all my vacation time. I'll be down there at the end of the month for the BRICKYARD 400.

They are using a modified version of the F1 track running in the traditional counter clockwise direction.

There were two CBX's there, I spoke to the man that owned the one in the pic for awhile, cool guy. Said he's learned to fix everything on his bike because there are no Honda techs out there any more with a clue about his bike, says you mention 6 cylinder and they say "ah, Goldwing."

Surprised no one's said anything about the pic of the Buell with the largest windscreen ever mounted to a naked bike!

I'd like to make the ride up for the race weekend. However, I might just drive. Depends. I haven't decided which would be best. Hope to run into a few WT members though.

Yeah, I see where they changed it behind the museum and at turn 1.
I wonder what it would be like for the bikes to come screaming down the front straight and take the full turn 1, short chute, turn 2 combo?! Probably a good thing they put a couple turns and a chicane in there. LOL!
