Nice that you got right into it Ragdoll.

How did you like the track layout and the wheelie out of the bus stop?

Brandon should have the pics up in a few days. That unless he did not show for this one.

Brandon was there. Sometimes the areas he stood were quite unnerving.

Track layout is good. I wish it was a little more technical(not that I have it figured out at ALL yet).

I was a wuss coming out of the bus stop! Half throttle in 1st to a short shift into 2nd coming up to that kink to the front straight.

I haven't been on a "real" track for over a year. First time ever to this one. So I was just breaking myself in yesterday. Next time I'll have the track better in mind and I'll try more stuff.

I had Michelin Pilot Power CT2's put on at the beginning of the day. Since this is my street bike as well I went that route. They work very well! That soft edge is nice. It was about 90-95 degrees all day with full sun though. Hot hot HOT day to be at the track. They still stuck well. I knew they had limits so I didn't push too hard for most of the day.

I chased a "tracked" R1 for most of my last session. He was semi-lousy in the turns but the bike had more power than my RC51 in the straights, so it got frustrating. He knew I wanted to pass him so he was pushing hard. He explodes into straight sections and then parks it in most corners. So I'd run up on him fast. His lines were unpredictable at times so I was cautious to pass when I had the chances to. I'm usually a late braker, he was not... so I was chasing him down the straight and at corner 2 I hit the brakes very late and was side by side him. I backed off a little to let him run wide like he always does and as he started coming back up to come down to corner 3 I bombed past him. He can't do turns 3 and 4 so I never saw him again after I went through there. That was my mini-race of the day.

Oh yeah... the point of all that. So after about 15 minutes of hard riding to pass that guy I finally pass him to find that I cooked my tires pretty good. I kept that faster pace for another lap and my back end was kicking out constantly. My next loop around I came into turn 3 and felt the front end push a smidge, then flicked it into turn 4 and hit the juice and the back end came out about 2 feet. Predictable, but still... There was one lap left but a I played it safe and pitted early.

I had my GoPro camera on my front fender the whole time. I'll post up video soon.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and while I was giving chase to the R1 and pushing myself and the bike... Evad passed me like he was riding a wave from an atom bomb. FWOOOM! I didn't feel as fast all of the sudden.

This week was busy at work. I wish I could have joined you guys out there!!
A couple years ago I wheelied hard out of that bus stop on my previous 919. It actually surprised me!

Glad you guys had fun. I have all the Pacific track dates on my work calendar and am trying to decide if I'll bring the 9er out there for at least one date this year. I'm dying to get back out there!

Let us know when you're going next and maybe a few of us Seattle-area WT members can meet out there.

Disregard that I've been working in the IT field for smidge over 10 years when I tell you that this is the first time I've uploaded a video to Youtube... also is the first time I slapped together video footage in about half a decade.

I haven't gone through more than 5 minutes out of the 2 hours of video I captured. Here's a random clip from the front fender of my bike-o...

YouTube - Pacific Raceways - June 4, 2009

Dang, I'm not watching that clip for the first time, hah... I entered turn 3 like ASS. I spent most of that clip roaming around the track trying to get around that guy.

Nice work Ragdoll, 1:56 is pretty good for a first time at the track.

Here is me #60:

JK, that was Michell Pierce. I did a couple of track day and he ran circles around me and everyone else. I can't find the other video but it has him laying darkies through T2 and T4. Crazy flat tracker.

Ha, if I was pulling 1:56 at the track I'd be pretty disappointed. That was not a lap to use for timing. The guy in front of me was unpredictable at best and I wasn't supposed to pass on the inside so I was tooling. I have a few laps on video that were around 1:40(still not that hot).

Mitchell actually came out later in the day and him and I went and played. He was on the Aprilia Motard SVX4.5. Rags has video of him going buy then me going by chasing down Mitchell. We had a blast backing it in to turn 3!

Evad was probably power braking....long story. But the guy can take 90 degree turns in a rental like no other.

Nice video and pics. I am dying for a track day now!

Well, you see, my tires didn't go to 11 (Spinal tap joke)

I was riding my wife's bike (2007 CBR600RR) and kinda pushing more than I should have been on the shagged front Dunlop GP208 Street tire. (Joke being I normally ride on Dunlop GP211 Race DOT's. GEt, tires didnt go to 11.. Nevermind)

Anyway, I was chasing a friend around toying with him passing him here and there and we upped the pace a bit. Will coming into the slow left hander the front just said, no more and gave out. It was really a simple liitle crash. No damage to me and the bike damage was minimal. I picked it up road back to the pits and took out my race bike.

All fun times though the wife was non to happy about it.

LOL, Yes, the ole Power Break 90degree turn. Just make sure Ridge Runner is clear first! I love rental cars...

I am glad I can bring levity to your evening.

I wasn't going that fast...

I saw a few pics of Michell riding the SXV. Can't miss a big guy like him and Twitch in the back.
