I'm glad to see this off his mind now. Maybe he can wrap up the championship w/ a little less stress on him from his contract.

I always question motives. Great to get a new contract, but I wonder if Honda did it now thinking he's cheaper than if he is the title holder. World Champion has a little more esteem than points leader.

Conspiracy theories say that Honda was reluctant to give him more money but after they got wind of Nicky going to Yamaha or Ducati, opted to keep him. In all honesty, Nicky has proven that he's one of the most consistant riders on MotoGP and also proved that he can step it up when the need arises (read: ride better on wet races & setup/develop a bike!).

I'm wondering who's going to be the #1 seat and how Repsol is going to like it

I don't know about that. The kid is good, and he was an AMA champion, he already leads in the points, so his value is already up where it can be. Probably had to do with development plans. Nicky is top dog at Honda right now, and with Yamaha and the rest of the pack really coming on strong through the season, they are probably building a race program around Nicky which will involve him helping to develop a better / faster bike.

Just my guess... *hic*

From what I've read Nicky is top dog in points only. Pedrosa is actually the #1 Honda rider from a contractual point of view. After all Pedrosa is Spanish and two time 250cc world champion. Rumor has it that Honda has actually been kind of handicapping Nicky in favor of Pedrosa when there is a choice of parts etc. Although the last few races might be chaging that. With Rossi in second place Honda may be deciding Nicky is their best bet for a championship.
I'd love to see the Kid win....just to spite the rest of the world.
And...the Kid deserves it, NO ONE has ridden as consistantly and as smart has he has this year.

Which is viewed as a handicap or not worthy of a true champion by so many people (I did think that at the beginning). I now think that the kid is very smart, he's not blinded by the fact that Rossi is the all time greatest but a human being after all and he can still win Championships by being consistent and smart when need to. I am sure that he will throw down a bit more next year when's he's given a bike he can ride strong with. In a way, I am hoping Pedrosa's gets the job of the developer so Nicky can ride 100% and have pedrosa fall short

It's gonna really suck when Nicky looses the championship b/c GP never penalized Rossi!

Pedrosa doesn't have to fall short. He's short standing up.

Hryder.....did you read the article on AMASoup about that incident. They really freakin ripped the FIM. The FIM has since apologized to Nicky but they still are NOT going to penalize Rossi even though they now admit he did make the infraction.

Forget where I saw it...
Yeah, Nicky got hosed. Since the race was over the "infraction" couldn't be upheld. Since it was raining the officals must of had their heads up their bums to not see what happened.
