Barbera is no slouch. Although I didn't appreciate his passing technique in the 250's.

I thought people were saying Jorge would have a harder time on the bigger engines...

Yeah, I'd like to see both Barbera and Bautista have strong seasons, and start to mix it up a bit w the front-runners...

Qualifying might tell us more, but maybe they've finally got the front of the Duc to work?

Well, Ducati will have a better chance now that they dropped the cf business. Excited about the big engines, woohoo. No more of this one-style riding bs.

That is because they are all on the same spec bike.
Wait til 3 races into the season when rossi and lorenzo get the first
batch of go faster parts and rossi will have the fastest duc and lorenzo
will be ahead of crutchlow

You can be sure Stoner has another second in the bag. First race practice sessions are pretty universally full of sand bagging. I've guessing Jorge has a hard time slowing down for anything.

i'm still concerned about the crt bikes creating problems on the track. 5.2 sec a lap from 1st to 21st pos. in a 2 minute lap.

they need to remove all the rider aids and "let'em ride".

Agreed. I don't see any scenario where they can make the CRT bikes on par with the true formula bikes. The entire concept seems unrealistic to me. If they implement the 107% rule like F1 does, then they might as well shutdown the CRT teams now.

I am interested to see what they are going to try. Seems if they get them even by changing the engine sizes or whatever, then why would anyone want a formula team?

I was about to say, "remember Lotus, Virgin, and HRT last year?".

Dorna is going to push for CRTs to fill the grid, and cap the factory teams that spend 50+ million. I don't know it all, but I think it'd be great to see capped 'factory' teams. It'll bring back teams that left.

Gotta break this down, man!

Spies is pretty far behind Lorenzo, but is also slower than Crutchlow.
Nicky is where he was last year (remember him being consistently 5-6 the first handful of races?).

Colin's CRT bike is less than a second off of Rossi. Wow.

Not bad, top 3 CRT bikes within a second.

Spies had a slip in the last few minutes - will make a great YouTube clip- held it, held it, held it, until he was off the bike on his back on the track, bike still upright. Eventually all he had was a hand on the throttle, when he decided he wasn't gonna save it, and let go.

Got a link for the video? Also, where the heck did Crutchlow come from?

As to Crutchlow, the commentators are talking about what a "stable platform" this year's Yamaha is - seems to be benefitting everybody.

Well, thats an odd way to go. Thanks for posting.

Wish riders hanging on too long didn't automatically bring Marcos Simoncelli into my mind.

Not a huge fan of Jorge, but he put the smack down the last few laps. You can never tell the season champion from the first race, but it was cool nonetheless. Those tires really dropped off.
Bradl did a good job.

The next race (a daylight event!) in Spain could be a doozy. Jorge feelin' it, Dani going strong, Casey needing to assert himself, all in Repsol country...
