Need some numbers

Ok, soooooo Hector is going to propose something to his new employer.

He wants to ask them if they would build a race track somewhere closer than jennings, FL. Say......, plant city, brooksville etc. How many of you would rather go there than go up to Jennings or have the option of going to either one? Hector is going to design it so I can tell ya it will be bad ass. He explained to me the way it will be set up and WHOA, if he can get backed for it, i'll probably just live there LOL!

So a show of hands will help just to start, so he can show his employer how many people would be interested in going. Thanks for any help you can give him. We know it won't be easy but this has been a dream of his for quite a long time.

He is a Superintendent for a construction company. You know.... the asshole that tells everybody else on the job what to do. He worked for another comapny for about 5 years doing the same thing but is with a better company now. at the previous company he used to supervise doing interior demo, build outs and such for the commercial side of the construction. but this new company also builds parking structures. (that's what they mainly do). They did the garage for the Hard Rock Casino, parking for University of Tampa, FSU, USF etc. They even gave him a compnay truck and all. He really likes it there. plus its more $$$$!

How's Hector doing? He was moving around pretty good at the ShinDig.

I haven't done a track day in two years, and that was at Jennings. I miss it, but I just can't seem to work it in.

If I was in the area I would probably go to Hectors track.
I believe what you say.
I would... like the option of ether.(Ha! I said WOOOOOD)
So. Cal. Needs a good ,cool, race track (non-NASCAR) to do track days on.
California Speedway just doesn't cut it. Willow too hot, too far.

I bet if Hector built a track near Ortega Hwy. It would Rival Laguna Seca.

just got off the phone with Hector. He couldn't wait to propse the idea to his boss so he did it today and the boss said "GO FOR IT". What his boss asked for was How many acres of land we'll need, info on facilities, A financial statement from another track, Infor on brochures and websites for our track and last but not least Ordiance and licensing information. I guess Hector and I better get to work. I don't even know where to start! YIKES!

You might want to start with ideas from existing tracks.....not sure what Hector's vision is, but he could talk to the people that own Jennings and maybe the people that own VIR (and are currently trying to build a track in southern NJ).....

That would give you a lot of info from two tracks that are very different in size and operation.....and you never know....you might plant the seed for some venture capital....

The guys trying to build here in NJ were gonna be our motorsports saviors.....it was gonna be the easiest deal ever inked what with known entities swooping into an available piece of land in an otherwise economically depressed area......well that was three years ago and not much has happened since then that I know of....won't believe it till I see pavement....

Not trying to be a naysayer....just saying there are many hurdles invovled, but if Hector's company builds large structures, I'm sure they know all about it.....good luck.

Do you think these other tracks will be willing to share thier information with us. I mean I don't know how to go about Financial statements from other tracks. Is that public record?

Make it happen and I'll be there, a lot.

Just so you know, people & investment groups with tens of millions of dollars have met with failure trying to build tracks. It's not only not easy, it's almost impossible. Almost.

I doubt it's public record...that kind of info might have to be "finessed". Remember, you are ostensibly their "competetion". The lands' assessed value/taxes (lots of'em get tax breaks) could probably be researched....that would give you a point of reference of the kind of $$ required to make this happen.

You also might want to talk to some of the larger Track-day org.'s and Club Racing Org's in your region......(up here it's Pro-motion, NESBA, CCS, and WERA.) They might be able to turn you on to names and numbers of the parties you seek, maybe give you some insight......

Well I know we need a track desiner so I found that Ed Bargy is a track designer, you all probably know he designed Talladega, Jennings GP. I will be making my first call to him on Monday to see about setting up an appointment. We are also going to have riders sign a petition as well saying they want the track as well as homeowners saying they think its a good idea to have the track. It would keep Sportbikes off the street (somewhat) and that's what they want. This is huge and I'm already pulling my hairs out!!! LOL!

I don't know anything about the area you're talking about, and the last time I developed a race course was......uhm......Never! But trying to think about how you would even begin such a journey, wouldn't you want to get an idea of acreage required, and then research what is available that size? Then look at zoning, especially noise related, along with utilities, access, motels, etc. If I remember right Jennings is about 200 acres?

It's seems petitioning is like the cart before the horse if you don't have some idea when/where/how.

We are looking at acreage right now. Already have a realtor on top of that. The realtor will also help us with some of the zoning issues as well. I think Jennings is 200 acres and I know Moroso is 200 acres as well.
