Its doubful I'll renew my motoGP subscription. But if I knew for sure there would be fights for all the podium spots every race I'd be alot more inclined to watch.

This is promising. Its boaring if only two guys are capable of running the pace. Perhaps this makes it three again. Too bad Stoner didn't stick around to make it 4.

You're not holding out much hope for Rossi getting close to the front again?

Ducati's WSBK and MotoGP riders have joined some of the World Superbike men at Jerez as testing continues, offering an interesting comparison between the two series. The fastest time was set by a World Superbike rider, Eugene Laverty taking top spot on the factory Aprilia, having already spent two previous days on the track. Tom Sykes ended the day in 2nd (Kawasaki), while Nicky Hayden ended with the 3rd fastest time on his first day of testing aboard the Ducati GP13 Desmosedici MotoGP machine.

I have hope that Rossi will be back up front. I just don't believe it will happen. At least not as a guarantee every race like it was in the past.

Sounds like Ducati still needs to work on their bikes if their top rider can't outrun a WSB. That is a cool test to havae both types at once.

Are these better [lap] times for Ducati? Too soon to tell? Nick H seems to have it working, but it might be a while yet before there's anything sensible to compare it with. The Sepang test will be interesting.

With the World Superbike season-opener now less than two weeks away, bad news looms for motorcycle race fans in the United States, as the SPEED Channel (now a part of FOX Sports), does not have a television contract to air WSBK and MotoGP for their 2013 seasons.

Heard of something called racing4me. Apparently you need an invite to get it, but they have all kinds of racing on there. Maybe someone here knows something about it? Can get us invites?

SPEED Still without TV Contracts for WSBK & MotoGP??!

Source: Superbike Planet & Roadracing World

With the World Superbike season-opener now less than two weeks away, bad news looms for motorcycle race fans in the United States, as the SPEED Channel (now a part of FOX Sports), does not have a television contract to air WSBK and MotoGP for their 2013 seasons.
An issue that has been hanging in limbo since the start of the year, Superbike Planet yesterday suggested that American motorcycle racing fans could be without the World Superbike Championship on their televisions sets this year (we have heard similar murmurings regarding AMA Pro Racing as well).
Now today, Roadracing World confirmed with SPEED that the network still does not have any contracts with Dorna for the TV rights to WSBK and MotoGP. Whatís worse, SPEEDís Vice President of Media Relations Erik Arneson gave no indication that the TV channel was any closer to finishing a deal with Dorna than it was earlier this year.
Though back in January Arneson was emphatic that SPEED would air the MotoGP Championship, the reading between the lines seems to suggest that World Superbike will not air on SPEED, and with the Qatar round rapid approaching, SPEED has less than two months to come to terms with Dorna over the MotoGP TV rights.
The only outlet for motorcycle fans on the small screen, SPEEDís lack of TV coverage for WSBK will be a blow to the series, which has struggled to break free of its Euro-centric calendar and following.
With MotoGP having three rounds this year in the United States, it seems unlikely that a contract will fail to materialize, but one has to wonder how serious the coverage will be from SPEED with an agreement taking this long to come together.
With US motorcycle fans already getting little more than the most bare-boned coverage of the premier motorcycle class on SPEED, it has hard to imagine how the TV network could water-down its coverage even further.
One thing is for certain though, what we will get will likely do nothing to help grow the sport in the North American market, and many die hard fans will have to resort to less-than-legal methods to get their racing fix on Sundays.

I follow Mobile Soup religiously. Too bad we couldn't get you to the States for a GP or even some AMA races!!

Do you get the beinHD channel there? Great coverage of WSBK first race.

They're a good crew, those Soup fellows!

We get a local version of Sky, which is basically a model of a UK satellite system. We get 3 "Sky Sport" channels, plus one labelled ESPN which shows a mix of US sports, incl Indycar and NASCAR.

Fortunately, Sky take WSBK and MotoGP events [and F1] live, so the Australian race came streaming in, only 2 hours different from our local time.

The downside of the live feed is that a MotoGP meeting from Europe might start around 10pm on Sun eve my time, and wrap up with the premier class around 2am [we get all the classes on race day].

It's a bit of a commitment! The WSBK is not so bad, as the early race comes in around 9 or 10pm, then the late one can go on the recorder for the following morning.

Haven't been to a live GP since the 1st Phillip Island race in 1989. I'd love to see a US GP - Laguna would be my preference, but I think Austin is shaping up real well...

Idk man, Im glad to see the Ducs doing better, but that time difference is still a long way off podium. I hope our boy Ben can get healthy and do well on them. Can't wait for the season to start!

Also, there's a new article in Motor Cyclist May issue about riding in NZ. Riding down there is on the Bucket List with the IOMTT.

Come on down, man, there's plenty of road for everyone - you just need to be prepared for a little mental re-wiring for dealing with riding on the left....

Sadly, we have had some terrible tragedies involving Euro tourists in rental vehicles just plain getting it wrong.
