Mid-Ohio Track Day

First let me say I am still slow but man did I have a blast last Saturday!!! Pics will follow soon. I have been sammed (plus had to make an emergency trip to Florida for a funeral alst week).

Anyway, the day started iffy. Somebody let the dealership change their oil and they left the old gasket on. 3 laps into session 1 and a line of oil is dropped from turn 3 in the chicane before the key hole all the way to the entrance of Thunder Valley. That took away about 2 sessions for everyone.

Despite that, I had a freakin great time. I concetrated on being smooth, learning the lines, looking through turns and my form. Was told by the instructor that my form and lines looked great. Now I just need to keep working up my speed. Still no knee down but who cares. We quickly became one of the faster groups in novice. I was one of the slowest just a few track days ago.

My buddy said I was carrying more speed than he had ever seen me have. The track is ultra smooth. I predict crushed track records when the AMA guys get there. I want to do another day there.

Mike...you gotta come up here for this track!!!

Like I said, pics soon.

Nice, congrats on the improvement. My dad's family is from Columbus, OH. I am working on ways to get the bike up there for a track day.

Nate, Maybe next year. I am thinking less track days next year and more exploring! Try some new tracks, hang out with friends in their back yard vs always being in mine.

Glad you had a good time.

Nate how does the track look? You said it was smooth, and I know that they recently repaved the track. Did they get rid of all of the concrete patches in the keyhole and others areas? Post pics!!!!

No concrete whatsoever. The repaved the whole thing. Not just paved over either. From what we were told, they dug everything up, put in new drainage tile and repaved. Should be no leaking. Not that I would now, but the fast guys said the curbs and track were smooth and you could barely feel your knee drag.

Mike - Travelling and exploring sounds good. I would like to travel a bit more again plus hit a few more track days. The side job keeps me busy. You need to ride up here for at least one round of Mid-O!!

We will be at VIR again.

Anyway...here are the pics. Yes I know I am slow but it was damn fun.

Going up under the Honda bridge..Angela got yelled at getting some shots.

Turn after the esses before bridge. Forget #.

The famous esses!! Seen lots of scary crashes here during AMA races.

Good times!
