Michael Schumacher Severe Ski Crash

Anyone following the subject?
He might not make it.
And his 14 year old son was with him but he is OK.
Had a helmet on, baled, helmet hit rock.
Conscious immediately after.
Since then, emergency surgery, medically induced coma, and no one will predict what the outcome to be, but makes it clear he is at risk.
Oh so sad, and hopefully he makes it, recovery that is.

Sorry about the mispelling
Schumacher

....ironic to suffer this injury while ski-ing, after all those hours at insane F1 speeds.

Hope he makes it.

I couldn't believe it when I read the article. It is ironic indeed, he drove that F1 like there's no tomorrow and something leisurely hurts him.

Hope he pulls through. Was he really The Stig?

So crazy hope he pulls through.
He really wasn't the Stig. They did it as a joke.

Yeah, saw that today and couldn't believe it.
I hope he pulls through, he's tough.
Watching CBS news right now and they're going to talk about it.

Man, I sure hope that Schuey will pull through. He's a true family man, and his family want and need him to stick around.

There have been a couple of Stigs, I think three in total. One was with the black racing suit and the last 2 with white.

The first one - Black Stig was Perry Mccarthy and there were reports he was getting paid shit money and one of the car owners tried to sue him for damage on the track (which is kind of screwed up because accidents do happen) and even though he left on good terms that according to other reports Top Gear brass wanted to take things a different direction.

Stig # 2 (first white stig) was reported as Ben Collins and it was always a secret until he wrote a book about it (from what my memory can recall)

Stig #3 (White stig #2) is still TBD. Currently the ongoing debate says its a fellow named Gordon Shedden who is a TOCA racer but I guess there are probably only a few people who really know exactly who it is (for now).

There is at least one other Stig from during the Ben Collins days, a member of HM armed forces...his stint was interrupted a couple times due to overseas deployment obligations, but his identity wont ever be mentioned.

Well, fire the engines! Spur this iron space-pony on!

It's Michael Schumacher!! He'll be back out doing what he always did in a few months :P

However, can you imagine having all that money and being unable to say your own name after the life he's lived?? Talk about hell on Earth. I'm sure he'll be fine

It's so ironic and I really hope that he pulls through this. It's pretty sad of a thing for his teenage son to have to witness... It would definitely change the kids life forever..

The coma is medically induced, i.e., artificial, to allow his brain time to recover. The question is whether he can recover enough that taking him out of the coma is a good idea - and we don't know yet.

Skiing is *dangerous* and unfortunately often leaves its victims alive but wishing they weren't.

Yes definitely... Theres already articles coming out now about how he's permanently hurt. I hope that isn't the case, but its unsettling to read.

I read yesterday that they're bringing him out of his coma. It could take weeks or longer. They say that his chances of being "normal" is very slim. I know that we all wish him and his family the best.

When I read about Schooie's condition, it brings back memories of Pat Hennen.
Hopefully as the months pass, Schooie and his family will be blessed with more glads than sads.

Anybody read about his current condition?
I read that he was last in a drug induced coma and that doctors were in processes of waking him up.

They're still waking him up. They say it could be a year before they know the extent of his injuries. Nuerologist un-related to his care say his condition seems bleak.

That sucks about the family not filling In the publuc about these things, as some if us do care. But then again who does want a ton of attention at a time like theirs.

Wouldn't get too excited... He may be out of a coma, but may still not amount to much more than Artichoke dip if you happened to have some chips next to him.
