Lorenzo to Ducati for 2017 & 18

News out today.
The rumours were true.
BUT I'm absolutely gobsmacked that I beat K1w1Boy to the punch on this one !

The secret that wasn't a secret - good work for posting up though.

I'll be truly interested to see if he can get the Ducati to work - God knows, it's got enough horsepower...

wonder how upset about it Yamaha was.. sure he's a championship contender, but he seems like a pain in the ass.

definitely excited to see how he does on the ducati though. i like Dovi, i think he's unappreciated, everyone is always going on about Ianonne, but i think they should drop him and keep Dovi. It'll be neat to see how lorenzo does on the bike in comparison.

CK honda was stupid to dump Dovi. Pedrosa has not done shit for them. I can't think of a rider that has done less for hrc and still kept his job.

Dovi is in 7th place in the championship standings even after being knocked out of the last two races(through no fault of his own) running in the top 3... He'd be in contention for the top right now if it wasn't for his incredibly bad luck... I hope duc keeps him on, they'll be the team to beat next year

I think it would be possible to find a rider who has done less...

I can't recall such a major team switch being announced this early in the season. Just 3 races in. Will Lorenzo really have Yamaha's full support this year?

interesting, man i didn't realize just how differently they are treated haha.

I don't get this part though

I would hazard the opinion that that is a scare tactic, another indicator of their displeasure with events at the end of the Argentina race. That would of course mean that Andrea Dovizioso could be available.
.....how does Dovizioso become available if they are pissed about Argentina? Am I missing something? Iannone, crashes out so many times last season, only podiums in CoTA because Dovi nearly got killed, and is clearly a risky rider who Dovi usually finishes in front of. why on earth would they keep Iannone, how is it even up for discussion?

This article adds an interesting point about Ducati not wanting a "Pro Rossi" team mate that also supports them ditching Iannone.
Dovizioso and Lorenzo at Ducati?

"Which means one of the Andreas would have to go. I understand that Iannone was due to announce an extension to his contract this weekend at CoTA, but management declined to go ahead. I would hazard the opinion that that is a scare tactic, another indicator of their displeasure with events at the end of the Argentina race. That would of course mean that Andrea Dovizioso could be available."

If you read the whole thing in context they're basically saying that Iannone is already a lock, but they're delaying his signing to make him sweat a little because of the Argentina incident.

Hmmm, just back in December, the same writer was passing on silly season rumours of Rossi and Pedrosa going to Suzuki.

Dorna and Moto GP have made a lot of changes to the rules so bike like Ducati can be competitive. Maybe this is what they need.

At the end of the day its still a Ducati.....

My coworker hates Lorenzo. So naturally, we had to get him.
He was so close to selling his Diavel when he found out about the signing.

Haha....that's great. Never let anyone at work know something bothers you or this is how you will end up.
