King Kenny

He was a Yamaha guy, but it's awesome to see a company that STILL sticks beside they guys who stuck with them.
If you are unfamiliar with Kenny Roberts, look him up; few people have ever contributed so much to so many different kinds of racing. I have a TON of respect for this guy!

KK or KR, whatever one calls him, sheer brilliance on two wheels. I saw him race once and that was at Mosport in the mid 70s before he went to Europe. This was the Gary Nixon/Gene Romero/Steve Baker/Yvonne Duhamel/etc era as far as the North American scene was concerned. They were all there, and seeing them go at it on their 750s sure was something to see ! KK saved my butt once, huge. I read an interview article back in the 70s, and KK was talking about "boxes on a shelf on the wall". He ran scenarios, developed responses, and "put them in a box". When said situation came up, he simply "took the box off the shelf" in his brain. I won't bore you with full details, but I realized I needed such a thing for a certain hypothetical situation at the end of T1 at the now closed Race City. Well, it happened in a practice session, so I went for "my box", and did exactly what was in it, and avoided what could too easily have been mega disaster. Seriously, to this day I thank KK for that gem of wisdom and strategy.

One of my favorite things about WT is the knowledge base among us; it is kind of my moto-mission to help carry on the appreciation for the sport, the knowledge, and the passion that some of the (now) old farts had, for street, trails, or tracks.
And I always love hearing first-hand accounts of legends!
Sorry about your wife LDH... Did she ever come back?

Not sure if Wayne looks that good from aging way better than me, or if it's the magic from his smile because of the fox next to him.
Either way, looks like they are both having a good time!

Wayne's post crash public persona impresses me even more than his riding did.
The way he has carried on, and carried himself since, in my mind speaks volumes of the man.
Schwantz was my guy at that time (The Asphalt Cowboy as they called him in press in Europe, while Spencer was getting slagged as Frau Freddit) but by 92, Rainey was the best in terms of being able to win championships on those monsters.

Wow what an awesome few decades of American GP racers you guy's produced. Fast Eddie was one of my idols.
