Finally, rumors have been flowing like the proverbial wine. Now, what is Indy going to have to address for safety?

It shouldn't be much different than prepping Daytona. That should be brutal fast racing. The F1 guys face a big problem with level of downforce, long, long straights, versus a fairly tight infield. The bikes don't have to concentrate on aero-grip... should be fun!

Under a 2 hour drive for me and have friends near there. I also know some great hotels.

Who is up for splitting a suite? I know Mike (f4iguy) will. He might even ask more than a week in advance.

Why you gotta be like that?

I thought the whole impromtu "the hotel just f'd me out of my room" was a great way for me to start my weekend.

Hey now, if the hotel hadn't f'd you out of your room you may not have gotten to know me. That would have been horrible for you.

I'll find a way to make it. I missed out on the inaugural race at Laguna, and I don't plan on missing this one. Especially if my W/T family is gonna be there.

Historic Indy USGP Announcement On The Cusp
by dean adams
Thursday, July 05, 2007
An e-mail from Indianapolis Motor Speedway states that they will make an announcement on July 16 which will make motorsports history. Presumably this means that on that day they will announce the date of their 2008 USGP MotoGP event.

Stay tuned.

ENDS

How far away is Lebanon, PA from Indy... I have family there that I wouldn't mind visiting!

Ang and I are watching closely. Hotel will be booked the second it is announced. I go over to Indy at least twice a year.

We will book a nice big room. Looks like f4iguy and Ridge got first dibbs.

Rumors for the date are Sept. 14th. You can't book more than a year in advance anywhere. We are looking at Homewodd Suites. Great local for after the races.

We will book as big a place as possible. See what else comes along in news.

Indy MotoGP

Indianapolis Motor Speedway is announcing the dates for next year's MotoGP tomorrow. I'm participating in a ride sponsored by a local dealership that will end up at the track and get to be the first to hear all the plans and have access to reserve tix. I'll try and get some pics at the event and post.

Check out this link for live coverage from the track this afternoon. You might even see me there, there's supposed to be hundreds of bikes all lined up by style, I'll be the guy in the naked bike row on the 919.

If we can get 200 people to commit, we can have a 3 day pass for $310/person.

They have published the date as Sept 14, 2008. I have attached the PDF of the inaugural event, and some package deals they are running. Looks like $475/person for standard 3-day passes.

Does this mean that we're not going to have another run at Laguna? or if we're going to have 2 US races, are we having Laguna in July and Indy in Sept? or Laguna in Sept (5th to 7th) and Indy on Sept (12th to 14th)... this doesn't make any sense to me unless they move the Laguna date.

Seems it would make better sense from a weather standpoint to have Laguna as early in the year as possible followed by Indy in Summer/early Fall.

Anyone know if they are moving from Laguna Seca, or will there be 2 USGP's?
I'm about 2 hours from Laguna, but the race always falls on my Anniversary (7-21) so maybe I'd have to travel...

We are buying tickets no later than tomorrow AM. probably buying reserved seats so I don't have to get up at the crack of dawn and guard a seat. Worth the extra $25 IMO.

Tried to sneak in a reservation but no luck at the hotel I prefer to stay in. Anyone travelling in should try and at least stay at the same place. A W/T takeover.

We are driving from our place over. Out of towners could come here and we could do some carpooling or caravan!!

MMMMMMM.......Beer. There is an irish Pub right across from the hotel I am trying to get into. When I called tonight they said Sept. 1st. I may be calling at midnight or regularly checking.

I will be in Indy this weekend. May do some scouting and calls.

What sucks about getting reserved is you can't sit together unless you bu together. But trying to get tons of people sitting together will be hard unless you get there early.

Can still meet up and wander together. I think reserved is worth it not worrying though.

Ticket application sent in by Ang. I think we picked the hotel but can't make reservations yet. I will be there this weekend. May swing by there and see what I can do in person. We also have to book our convention for next year so maybe I can get a deal if we book there.

The room we are getting is a great place. Once we can book I will post. Spacious rooms and great location!!

James and Mike you are coming right??? Or you just ignoring Angela?
