Caught up with Ratdog too which was cool. He rides a different group (I'm still beginner) so we could only bench race between sessions. Looked at the gocart track at lunchtime & had a $5 (!) hotdog.
Nice fast track. That carousel seems to go forever when you're in it then (on my little r6) hit upwards of about 140 on that straight (I had to glance just once). Ratdog described it as "what the Beaverun carousel wants to be when it grows up".
The first turn after the straight deceives a lot of people, maybe 'cause you can't see beyond it, but it's actually a pretty fast sweep that many folks (including me the 1st few sessions) brake way too hard for. It's also a slight uphill which seriously lightens the front as you come over it.
This was my 3rd trackday. After yrs of bashing backroads I catch myself just wanting to wail on it & have to remind myself to settle down & focus on the mechanics. The last session of the day was my best & I felt like I really nailed it. I'm sortof working tomorrow but will be back Sunday for another go.
GDJAM showed up on his streetbike at the end of the day, a real clean fj1100 which just reminded me how cool '80's bikes are.
Sure is nice having a track 1 hour away.
