Bombshell: DuHamel To Replace Elias For Laguna MotoGP?!

Sources in Europe said today that none other than Miguel DuHamel will replace Toni Elias for the Laguna Seca MotoGP event later this month. Elias crashed at the recent Assen race and broke his leg, necessitating a replacement rider for the Fausto Gresini-run team.
DuHamel, a former Superbike champion, may actually be more well-suited to current MotoGP machinery than some believe. Before he raced Superbikes in America, DuHamel was a terror in the AMA 250 ranks.
If this development comes to fruition it could be a major PR boon for Laguna Seca as DuHamel is both immensely popular and a known entity to many of the California and national press. ENDS
I just hope that Miguel does nto get it in his head that he is the next Bayliss. I am excited any AMA regular gets the ride. I am hoping Roger gets the Kawi, but we will see.
The downside... people who are not overly familiar with the GP bike are hopping on for a joy ride during a points race. If Duhamel tangles with anyone and it affects the points race, he will forever be remembered for it.
Worst scenario... Duhamel takes out Rossi or Stoner.
Less bad, but still bad... Duhamel takes out another American hopeful of making something happen on a home track
Best case for Miguel... He does not embarass himself.
Not that Duahmel has a chance in hell at the AMA 2007 SBK Championship or anything like that but I don't believe for a second that Duhamel will endanger any of the MotoGP regulars, much less the ones leading the Championship. Now, being said that, a race is a race is a race and if one of them wants Miguel to get out of his way just because, it will not happen as easy as they think (even though, I don't particularly believe they will expect that either), I want Miguel to do go but in reality, hoping for a top 10 is the best he can hope although... I am ready to eat some crow if he does top 5
