F1 at COTA, Austin TX

Watching F1 2nd practice live [Breakfast tv! Fantastic!] from COTA, so getting a 1st look at the track. Pretty grand facility, F1 commentators are saying they have sold 120,000 tickets for the weekend.

It will be interesting to see bikes on the track, the rolling terrain will make for some challenging corners, I think.

Yeah drove by it the other day on the toll and you can really see the elevation changes they made out there. Kinda wierd considering the land out there is pretty flat. Traffic is going be a B.... this weekend tho.

Post up when they have bikes on that track. F1 cars are fast and all but I just have a hard time tracking 4 wheel sports any more.

From watching qualifying today it looks like a fun track to drive on

But it doesn't look like there is lots of passing areas, and that might make it a boring track to watch, I guess we'll see tomorrow.

Moto GP | Circuit of The Americas - Home of the Formula 1 US Grand Prix | Nov. 16-18, 2012 | Austin TX

Turn 1 is sold out, was $189 for the 3 day pass. GA is $90. Parking is bend over and pretend uncle sam is behind you expensive. $30 for a motorcycle, I'm wanting to say cars are in the hundred dollar range. I haven't found any information on paddock passes yet.

I love tracks with elevation changes and hope that COTA yields racing at the same level as general excitement level of the new venue.
Barber would also be a nice track to see Motogp bikes on.
Scary as they are for bikes, classic tracks like Mosport and Watkins Glen as cut into wooded hilly areas, are the tracks that really turn my crank.

Looked like a great F1 race weekend, interesting possibilities on the track - all involved must be delighted with their debut.

Now for the sight of a 40-strong swarm of Moto2 bikes heading into Turn 1, taking 40 different lines!
