Assen FP2 Discussion - SPOILERS

This will contain spoilers, read no further if you don't want to know.

I'm watching live FP2 timing on motogp.com - has Stoner crashed? Did he blow up a bike? he's not running laps right now and his last laptime was over 6 minutes.

and did you see the speed differential between him & Rossi from FP1? 9mph. WOW but Rossi must be much faster in the turns because their times are very close.

Elias is out with a fractured femur. This makes 3 unfortunate years in a row for Toni at Assen.

my EA was in here and I was describing the timing differential and she said "wow, any little thing they do can make a huge difference."

She's never ridden a bike in her life but understands better than 75% of the people working here who do ride.

Like Vale said in the beginning of the season, as soon as he figures out these bikes, he's gonna' be right back up here. I guess the bike needed to come to him a little as well via the new chassis.

I'm also quite happy with CBS in doing the right thing and showing the race on the same day as it's run instead of making people wait 30 hours or more to see it on Sunday as SPEED would have.

cbs.com has a feedback form to let them know we love them and are tired speedtv. might help motivate them to a season long contract with Dorna.

I got up late today and I missed the FP2 and then, couldn't watch the 250cc... I won't miss it tomorrow.

For those with MotoGP.com subscriptions, you can also watch the Live feed for QP, the times are as follows:

FP3 ----- 4:00 to 5:00 A.M. EST (Friday 29th)

QP ------ 7:50 to 8:50 A.M. EST (Friday 29th)

LIve timming or LIve Video... yeah!

High Res for Race day Live!

Nicky seems to be progressing and it appears that he finally has slept with the bike, she decided to let him mount her... let's hope that he can be up there with the big boys for the race.

Would love to see Hodgson get a ride. Such a great guy. One of the friendliest riders in the paddock and more than happy to chat over a margarita. Ang was in heaven.

+20 mins to go and Stoner he is consitently (sp?) 2 full seconds ahead of everyone in the time sheets 1:48's and the rest is battleing each other out at 1:50's ... Valentino is 15th, which btw, doesn't mean much, 8 out the Top 10 guys are on Bridgestones (Pedrosa & Hayden the only ones on MIchelins), is getting even darker and you can see the flashes from the photographers... wicked!

I gotta try to find a way to have the Video and the live timming on at the same time... Thank god my bosses let me do whatever I want during working hours

Jet, I can honestly tell you that +100 bucks is the best money I have throwned away. sure, we have had some braodband problems with motogp.com but just the fact that they now have High Res video for the races is worth the price... I dot believe that you can buy the package probably at half price.

Vale was in the top of the sheets in the morning (dry) but is 5 secs down in the wet and he's struggling bad... have not been able to check the forecast for tomorrow's race but if declare a WET Race, it doesn't look good for him. The face on Burgess's face was GLOOMY (sp?), I have never seen him this sad or confused!

there you have it. If the race is in the dry these starting positions don't mean much. Edwards found a bit of ooommff.

Great, Kurtis gets to start next to Nicky for the first time in 5 years. We'll see how good that front end really is when Hayden dives up the inside of the lot of them into turn 1 tomorrow.

It's almost as though we need to list 2 picks - dry weather and wet weather lol
It's remarkable that there's such a disparity between the riders/bikes when the weather changes. You really would think that at this level of racing, more combinations would be consistent, regardless of the weather.
Stoner is the only bloke consistent, wet or dry. Oh, 'spose Capirosa is consistent at midfield wet or dry

Tyres could be the best excuse but even then, Edwards did well in the wet last race on "hard?" Michies.

Looks set to be another cracker of a race though, rain, hail or shine
Go the wheaties eaters

Well, I screwed up my picks (again!) but I am happy as a pig on shiot for the results. It was a good race, perhaps not the best one but fun nonetheless.

Michelin seems to be back on form or, at the very least, with a small edge over Bridgestone on warm dry weather today, hopefully they can continue on and be on par with the Bridgestones from now on, whether dry or wet.

Kudos to Ant west for a good performance but I think that Nicky deserves major props because he attacked the race like we have not seen him do in ages and was able to finish on the podium, hopefully the Repsol boys have gotten the thing working and it can only get better from here.

Perhaps Pedrosa's words helped both teams instead of hindering his chances for last year, although, according to an interview with TVE, when asked if his future was already settle, he responded with a quick, NO! what is HRC waiting to re-sign him back for next year is the Million dollar question.

Melandri's luck seems to have taken a turn for the worse, is he probably buying his luck as the same place that Colin was? Is he ready for a move to Ducati now that the rumors have started that Capirex is going to Kawasaki? Yes siree ladies and gentleman, the rumor mill has already started for next year.

Maybe they should take the big screens down around the track. Stoner couldn't help but watch himself on screen.

Quote:
Casey Stoner - Ducati Corse - 2nd Place and Championship Leader
"I was able to watch a bit of the race on the big screens around the track and I could see that Valentino was coming through the field quickly. I was just keeping the best pace I could, trying to stay nice and consistent, not making mistakes and I was doing what we did in free practice and I was happy at that. I could see that Valentino was chasing me down, the gap just dropped dramatically and I could see that his pace was faster, so I upped my own pace a bit and we were running in the 1m37s for a while. But once he came past, that was it, I was at my maximum and he had a lot left.
